Looking to get a flip kit for my truck. I have seen two different styles and I am wondering if one is better than the other? It looks like the rounded one would fit around the axle better and keep it snug but I don't know never done a flip before.

The one on top is way better. The flip bracket is gusseted and has a u-bolt plate that has additional holes for the leaf spring center pin to keep the u-bolts better aligned.

I used the second pic on my 85

I had to cut a hole in my stock u bolt plate for the center pin

if I was to do it again I would buy some perches and weld them on

Thanks I'm going with the first one, but you still got around a 5" to a 6" drop right?

The difference in a 5in to a 6in drop is the spring thickness, its the same drop wether you use a flip bracket or new spring perch.

Question totally off topic here where did you get that bed cover I would prefer a fiber glass one but a leather one would be ok too. Nice truck and looking good. Thanks for the pics too

a buddy of mine got it used and made it fit a square short bed by using 2x2 aluminum angle to space between the bed and the cover. in this pic you can see the 2x2 angle the cover is screwed under it you can see the screws in the middle of the 2x2 angle piece

he has no idea what it originally was on

it is almost the perfect length so I have thought about measuring a few newer trucks until I find the right length and a close enough width and get a cover that fits what ever it was
