1970 350 block bolt to turbo 350?

I have access to a 1970 350 block for cheap that id like to make a 383 stroker out of. would this bolt directly to my turbo 350 trans? :shrug: Iv never assembled an engine before, just intake and carb swaps. what special tools might i need. any advice? Looking for 400 hp thanks

All Chevy smallblocks, bigblocks, and 4.3 V6's have the same bellousing bolt pattern.

I wonder if it would be more cost effective to just build up the 350 and bore it 60 over. I'm sure I could get the same power. It just wouldn't need the extra machine work that a 383 would take. I emailed a shot in my area for a quote

Well that would be a good plan as long as your block doesn't crack.

Boring a block isn't really a great thing to do. Its rather the nature of the beast to having good round and smooth cylinders.
The amount of power you would gain from the small Additional displacement could be had easier and cheaper in other ways. Not to mention once you bore a block to it's maximum its basically a boat anchor once those cylinder bores wear out. Sure you could te sleeve them bit thats a lot of work and it takes a good machinist. It also thins the cylinder walls And causes the engine cooling system to have to work harder.

I would look at your budget, look at your goals and make a decision based on that. If you are looking for a fun street engine that doubles as a truck engine the 383 is treat for that. But if you are looking for mild power you could accomplish similar power with the right head and cam choice on the 350.

I agree. The max is 30 over and absolute max is 40 over. Thus the comment about the block not cracking. At 30 over it bumps your displacement to 355 at 60 over to 360.

I think if you could get a 360 to work and with 2.02 heads you would notice the extra displacement but not like going from a 305 to a 350.

And yes a 350 with manifold headers and cam will perform more than adequate. I have had a few friends with 450 hp 350s and they will put you in your seat all right! I had a buddy with a 1980 Camaro with a 500 hp 355 and I got to say that was actually a bit of a scary ride. Its very hard to translate that kinda power into road handling performance.
