    G series camper van forums

Here's my early...a '66, 230 3 speed. Since this pic was taken, I've added the correct grill blackout and a set of proper west coast mirrors instead of these peeps. Also a set of shortened Thrush sidepipes, the rare ones.

What have you done to your square lately??

Never got the fuel gauge working and after a couple tank fills, I fiinally ran out of gas and was stranded. Not since I was a kid have I ever ran out of gas.....sucks! So, I finally got the multi-meter out and checked the sender.....nothing. Dropped the tank, pulled the sender, new spectra...

    Check out this 73!

I had no idea these could reach that high i'd have backed out too.

What have you done to your square lately??

Not really sure why, but the driver's side window hits major resistance when it's almost closed and the passenger side hits resistance when it's almost all the way open. I had enough and just buttoned it up. That regulator access looked real tight, so I thought i'd save that issue for another...

What have you done to your square lately??

Installed these window rubbers. I remember finding them at a swap 10 years back, finally got to it. They had a couple issues.....1 clip at the end didn't line up, had to drill a slot in the door lip.....sucked. The clips for the inside seal were 1/4" to shallow, so had to notch the door panel...

    Check out this 73!

Wowzers! This is almost a duplicate of my '73 C20>transformed into a K20. I got a kick out of noting all the differences in a Super Cheyenne vs Cheyenne. Even a few differences under the hood. My seat uphholstery was originally the cloth cover. The drip rails and white roof, and seat upholstery...

    454 magnum roller tip rockers

Thought I'd post this, might help someone. Back story.....newly machined block, internals and heads have a couple thousand miles usage or so. Bought the engine used and it sat for years. Removed heads, the pass. side bank had something sitting on the rings which corroded into the cylinder at...

What have you done to your square lately??

Made an excuse to drive the '73.........didn't take much, hit the arts store for ma, then the licquor store for me. Cranked up some live Mountain and chilled.

What have you done to your square lately??

Several little things hammered out on the 73, the dash gauge bulkhead connector is missing a tab so the blinker indicators and the temp gauge weren't working....tied it in place, problem solved. Still don't have a working fuel gauge. On my list. The pcv was popping out of the valve cover on a...

    Squealing turbo 400

cheveslakr Veteran Member Senior Member Yesterday at 8:27 PM Add bookmark #1 I thought I had the solution, but failed. The turbo 400 in the K20 squeals like a wicked loose belt under acceleration, gets louder the more load it sees. It's fine around mild load. Thought it was the clearance...

1977 Silverado wood grain dash bezel with stainless trim

Assuming the '74 is the same as my '73, it's not stainless. It's a round mylar ribbon that's bonded to the perimeter of the bezel. Mine is still there, but came loose in a section that I'm trying to fix. No clue if it's repopped. You could hunt for an actual 1/8" round stainless rod and mold it...

    Need real-world exhaust advise

As said several times, 2.25 will work with what you have, 2.5 will work up to around 475hp. I have a 427 in my chevelle that puts out around 535hp, and I chose Borla ProXS 3 inch mufflers, but ran 3 inch to the muffler, and 2.5 tailpipes. It's perfect. A big advantage in snaking tails in and...

What have you done to your square lately??

Thanks for that. Taking a rig out for the inaugural run after a body-off is always stressful, lots to be on top of. I find I manage it much better when I'm by myself, keeps my focus inline. This was the first big block I built from scratch, and the first hydroboost I've installed and honestly...

What have you done to your square lately??

FINALLY got the '73 out for a test drive. Pulled it out of the garage for the first time under it's own power in 10 years, then crawled underneath to check leaks, loose stuff, whatever......and as blind as I am, I noticed the c-clp at the base of the sector shaft on the steering box was...

Fix this Paint? Any ideas that I do not have to repaint the whole Suburban?

Anything I plan on keeping, or a high end car, or a car that'll see the outside weather more than the insdide......gets taken down to metal and SPI epoxy as a foundation. Only exception would be the early corvettes and it's factory red oxide primer.

    ac o-ring kit for '73

Having an interestingly difficult time nailing down a source for a complete o-ring kit to reseal all my hoses. Right now, I'm just putting it back intact so it won't bet crud in the system. Tried Napa, tried amazon, tried the classic parts houses that sell a kit for '69-'70 chevelles.....which...

    NP 205 shifter bushing

Been all over, internet and parts houses, no luck. This is the pop in bushing that the short linkage arm pops into on the transfer case shift bar. The Dorman part is junk, and not sure about this one pictured. Has anyone had success purchasing a replacement that actually mates to the pop-in...

want to add a return line with duel tanks?

I just hunted down Pollak 6 ports and couldn't find one that said it'd fit my '73. Probably worth a phone call to them, but it'd be much appreciated if someone would post a link to the correct valve. I've got twin tanks, return line, and no charcoal canister. Honestly I thought all chevys had...

What have you done to your square lately??

FINALLY, set the body and bed on the waiting chassis. Overlooked the '77 frame not being drilled for the 2nd line of bed bolt holes. So had to go in reverse for a bit. So far, I'm liking it. Fired up the fresh 468 monday and broke in the cam. That went very well except I had to bend the...

    Parking Brake Cable Guides-1978 K10

From that pic it appears the 4 wheelers have a shorter loop and a longer single pull to the pedal pulley.

That diagram is for a 2 wheel drive. Sounds like I need to just fab to fit.

73 K20 parking brake cable routing and hardware

Another issue in converting my C20 to a K20. I have all the cables and frame loops in great shape from the C20, and installed the C20 rear cables at the hub to the frame. Now, the routing can't be the same as the 2 wheel drive due to the t-case and the front drive shaft. So, I searched till I...

What have you done to your square lately??

Got the high hump installed today. Decided to split it, add an inch for the overlap, and weld the rear portion in, while making the front removable. I have a removable cover on my CJ5 and it's come in very handy.
