What Do You Guys Think ?

I know what you mean by the feel of the truck. The 80's and older had the flat hood. '81 and newer have the slope, I miss my '78 for just that reason. I have a '90 "Jimmy" that I just put an '82 front clip on. The hardest part was rewiring the headlights. But you know the old addage, "It's your...

no headlights... running lights..... dash lights..

I had a problem similar to this on my blazer. Check your fusible links. That was not my problem but might be yours. I ended up running a wire from the positive post to the alternator stud. Everything works now.

I just checked those out. They look pretty sharp. I would like to see a four pod. If you get something going I would be interested.

    Fuel issues

I Have removed the filter, replaced the filter and replaced the filter. The fuel pump is mounted about 8 inches from the tank. Aluminum manifold with 2" aluminum spacer. I have started the tear down on the truck. Scrapped the engine. Will build a new one. Will be removing tanks and...

    What are your thoughts

You should have stopped by on your way home. I might have needed some parts. How did the tires look after sitting so long? That's the biggest worry I would have had. Shoot some pics after you clean her up.

    Fuel issues

Fuel lines are out side the frame. Not near anything even slightly warm. I guess I'll pull the truck completely apart and start over.

    16.5x9.5 slotted wheels with 33/12.50 tires.$600

I have the same rims on my '85 1 ton with Procomp Mud Terrains. I would love another set. I have a son who lives in the tri city area that can pick them up if I can find the money.

    Fuel issues

I took the pump of my '82 which never had any problems. I have rebuilt the carb. I have been under the truck while it was running and moved, wiggled every thing that would move. No success.

    Fuel issues

I am having a fuel issue with my '85. It has a '73 454 beefed op a bit. It has started to act like it is vapor locking. When it does this I can pop the hood and see that the filter has no fuel. Let it sit for a few minutes and it will fire and be ok for a while. I have eliminated the mechanical...

    Am i blind??

Were some of the later model suburbans that same length? It seems to me that years ago I took the two piece shaft and carrier bearing out of my '78 and replaced it with the one piece from an'88 or'89. Both were 3/4 ton.

    Post cam install blues

I should have made myself a little clearer on the spark issue. I was questioning the distributor and or wires. If the ignition module was going out or shorting across then he would have wet plugs. Maybe a hairline crack in the rotor.

    Post cam install blues

Could this be a spark issue? If the cam is a Comp Cam ditch the lifters. Go with Rhoads or Howards. The last two sets of Comps lifters I have installed have had issues.

    pressure gauge wire

Thanks Chegny. That sensor looks like the one that was on what was left of the engine. I will try the brownish wire. Will eventually install a mechanical gauge. Probably should sell the damn thing.

    pressure gauge wire

Swapped a carbed engine into a 90 Blazer that was tbi originally. Engine is running fantastic but no oil pressure gauge. The wiring was cut to hell when the original owner pulled half of the engine apart then quit. My question is what color is the wire that would have gone to the pressure gauge...

    Grill and Light swap?

Did he change complete radiator support or just the lights? Radiator support can be a big job but can be done in a day. LMC can supply most of what you need. I would scour the local " Pick and Scrounge " and or Craigs list. Can you post pics of what you got?

Has anyone done a write up on how to repair the tail gate handle? Handle moves but does not release latches.

Try running some dye through the cooling system. If there is a crack in the block it will show.

    header hitting leafspring

Add more lift until the header clears the springs. I apologize, but that was funny.

    Head gasket/cracked heads?

I would have two questions here. Are you sure the water pump is pumping as strong as it should be? And when was the last time you had the radiator rodded? Both of these will cause poor circulation. Are you sure that your temp sensor and or your gauge are correct.
