    Bought a 73 F100 4x4

Been busy with this thing since I bought it. Rebuilt the 9 inch with new bearings, trac loc, seals, rear brakes etc. rebuilt the front end with new bushings, leveling springs, shocks all around, brake lines, and still waiting to pull the front hubs and press new drums and do the bearings and...

    Question about headers

I run the summit racing brand ceramic coated long tubes. Really nice headers, fit great, thick flanges, and the coating seems to be holding up good. Around 400 for ceramic coated long tubes is a pretty good deal. If you have A/C like me, I ordered the hooker A/C bracket. Little but of...

    Frame bracket for z bar

There was one vendor I found when doing my swap that “sold” them. They were always out of stock. I ended up going to a junkyard with a few squares and finding a manual transmission truck. Most of the time the trans and transfer case are gone but no one ever takes the bracket since it’s riveted...

    Bought a 73 F100 4x4

Picked this up a week ago, drove to SoCal with a trailer to get it. 1973 F100 4x4 with a 360 and a 4 speed. First year of the “dent sides”. My dad had a 77 SWB 4x4 with a 4 speed which ended up getting parted out when I was in high school. My sister and I always gave my dad crap for letting it...

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

What are you folks that are painting your own truckers using for primer and paint? I have watched a ton of self paint videos on YouTube and there seems to be a bunch of opinions on brands and types of primer which coincides to paint type and what not. I’d like to do a single stage paint and am...

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

I have the trim and everything off. I have the trim holes welded shut and smoothed. I was hoping to have the bulk of the body work done to where they had to prep and tape off the glass and jambs. Hoping to save costs that way. This thread is starting to make me want to just do it myself and be...

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

My buddy had his XJ done at the local Maaco and it’s a good 20 footer. It was done a couple years ago and still looks as “good” as it did when it came out.

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

that’s a great idea, I may call the community college and see what they would be willing to do.

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

Holy smokes. Would it matter to them (the body shop) if I told them it would be used in the woods and for cruising around town? I know things are getting more expensive but 10k seems really steep. I wouldn’t want to pay more than 5k for what the truck is being used for. Other option is to...

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

Just shooting this out there to get some ideas on what to expect when talking to the body shop. Getting my K25 ready for paint and minor body work for a shop to spray it. I replaced the passenger bedside, door and hood. My question is how much should I be expecting to pay for a full repaint as...

    No clutch on mechanical linkage

I should have gone hydraulic when I did the sm465 swap but oh well.

    No clutch on mechanical linkage

Well found what may have been the problem, not exactly sure why is decided to show itself at this point but anyways… I noticed today when I had a buddy jump in and push on the clutch that the “push/adjuster rod” already started at a steep angle to the clutch fork. This angle stayed and or got...

    No clutch on mechanical linkage

Here is the story… Mechanical clutch linkage, clutch has been fine since the swap (3-5) months. When I got it together I was adjusting the clutch but if I adjusted to close to the floor the pedal wouldn’t want to come back up. The quick fix was to place a small block of a 2x4 behind the carpet...

    1964 Ranchero

This is my other project. A 1964 Ranchero. Got the car when I was 16 from a family friend. Was pretty much original when I got it other than the reman 302 and C4 that was in it. Drove it like that for a while them decided it needed a full suspension rebuild along with steering and brakes. Got it...

    Stripped bellhousing to transmission threads

Not sure if you were still dealing with this problem, but during my 465 swap, I noticed that the donor bell housing threads were mostly stripped. I just ordered 4 FULL THREAD bolts (3 inches long if I remember) online through fastenal. I ran a tap through the bell housing to clean the threads up...

    All in the family

Yeah me too, I’m planning to cut the auto shift lever down to about 2 inches long, paint it black, and leave it. That way I can drop it into gear if I leave it somewhere questionable it’ll hopefully fool the would be thief. Still need to figure out how to run the wires for the reverse light...

    Post 4 speed swap woes

Thanks for the picture but I’m looking for how the harness snakes it’s way around the column once it’s installed, I don’t know if how I have it is how it should be. Not a huge deal but would be nice to get it set right.

Here is the interior. New carpet, had a local guy reupholster the seat, Bluetooth classic stereo, cluster refresh. Other than the 3 sticks now sticking through the floor, it’s original.

    Post 4 speed swap woes

Disregard the initial question of the thread, I found that the cluster plug was loose after I had screwed around with the column wiring and what not. Keep it simple, stupid. Wouldn’t mind if someone would snap a picture of their column wiring routing though. Morgan
