The cab in my truck came from a 2wd auto. It just has the tunnel out of a 4wd standard. It's just screwed down with self tapping screws, looks and works fine. And I also have a 3 inch body lift btw.
I've looked at a chart and entered my tire size and gear ratio and at 35 i should be around 1400, and at 50 i should be around 1900 rpms. I just figured being easy on it I'd be closer to 13 mpg. Not that I'm complaining because I love the motor, just a little expensive to cruise around in lol
It is this carb- http://holley.com/0-80511-1.asp
And this engine- http://www.jegs.com/i/GM-Performance/809/12568774/10002/-1
I was thinking maybe 4.10 gears if i avoided interstate, but i don't know if there'd be any noticeable gains over the 3.73s
The carb is a Holley 830 HP. The motor is the 454 HO crate motor, not the original one. So TBI isn't really an option. Do those O2 sensors for jetting a carb really work, I have looked into them.
I've been driving my truck for about a month now and have gotten way worse gas mileage than I expected. I have calculated somewhere between 7-10 mpg. This is a little bit of mixed driving, keeping it around 60 on the highway.
My setup is an sm465 with 3.73 gears, and a 830 HP carb. I...
There's one for sure in Mass. Not sure of his name, but most all of the Mass pullers have their motors built by the same shop, so I'm assuming he's good.
I don't know what it came with but i ran my own wire back to the fuse box so they should have worked. I'll try a different switch in the transmission, if that doesn't work I guess the shifter's just too worn out?
You can't beat a serpentine setup! And for some reason people think since they stopped making v-belt brackets and pulleys so long ago they're worth more because they're 'rare'.
The washers on those lug nuts would not fit inside the rims im pretty sure, and called around the correct lug nuts are called 9/16 appliance roto-lugs. One place wanted $15 per lug nut for them.
I bought my truck with the reverse lights wired up to a toggle switch, so i took a reverse switch out of another transmission and put it in my truck. My transmission will not turn the switch on when it's in reverse. And yes I did check the switch before installing it. I'm assuming it's because...
http://www.akhwheels.com/pages/showMisc.php?pk=392 The one on the left looks identical, but says they don't have any left. I'm thinking it may come down to a parts store having some buried in the back or trying to find an old truck with turbines.
I'll have to figure that out, they told me at the parts store but i forgot. My truck has 8 lug 14 bolt rear end and 8 lug 10 bolt front end. I'll do a search and see if something comes up.
OK, well my truck is 8 lug, and I have like 25 of these lug nuts and the shanks are all bigger than any other similar style lug nuts, and have the built on washer. And they fit perfectly in the rims. Hopefully these rims aren't unusable...
Measured the shank with a caliper and got .860, theyre the short shank style too. I've been to bonds, VIP, and a custom auto place and they couldn't find anything.
I bought a set of 16.5" Turbine rims for my truck and can't find the lug nuts anywhere. They are the mag style with the shank that has to much the rim, but the problem is I can't find the right diameter shank. Does anyone know where i can find lug nuts for these rims?
The truck that I'm currently building has sat outside for like three years, so the paints pretty dull. But also it's got a lot of dirt along the side of it that i know won't just come off. So i was wondering what people recommend to clean it with. I've done some searching and found that clay...
So could i just find a 465 out of an 88-91 truck and replace mine with that? There's a '91 locally that I bought the serpentine brackets and pulleys off so i know it had a 454 in it, and I'm almost positive it's a 3500. If it was a standard it should have the 465 in it, right?
I know this is an old thread, but I just read it and it's really interesting. Has anybody actually done this, and how much better shifting is the tranny with this mod?
Well right now they're just cut off, but they should be going into the resistor for the blower motor. The problem is the box was smashed so the blower motor is still there but the resistor is not anymore. Honestly I'm not completely sure how the wires coming out of the firewall connect into the...
It is a 1981. When i bought the truck the wires had been cut at the firewall and the box had been smashed, so I need the plug that connects to the resistor on the box and has the wires going back thru the firewall. And do you know anyone that might have the pulleys and brackets? Because I'm...
