    Alternator amps

So, after checking a bunch of connections and testing the battery and alternator which both tested good. still had problem. I really felt it was an intermittent problem with alternator and it just wasn't happening when they tested it. Luckily, I convinced the staff at O'reilly's and they...

    Alternator amps

Sorry been busy last few days. I really feel like the alternator has some sort of dead spot. Gonna have it tested. If I need a new one probably go with 94 amp. Also I need to measure diameter of pulley.

    Alternator amps

Yes, mostly at idle. Sometimes drips right off to like 8 volts. Turn things off it will come back up. I replaced it probably a year and a half ago and seemed okay. Just started acting up again. I'll take it down to Oreilly's let them test it. Good ideas. The smaller pulley might do the trick...

    Alternator amps

Is there a way to tell what alternator came on the truck originally. It's an 86 K20 Silverado with A/C. Nothing else unusual. I've put a couple of Generic brand 78 amp alternators in and they drop off voltage when running lights, Heater on #3, wipers. I've replaced the blower motor, resistor and...

    Seat belt retractor

As far as retracting fine, I meant when I remove the belt they spool back fine. Certainly not with any force. And yes they do not snug up real tight when putting them on.

    Seat belt retractor

Aha, that's kinda what I thought when I saw that little rig. But, wasn't sure. Thanks for the info.

    Seat belt retractor

The seat belts on my 86 K20 don't grab if yanked out. On my other cars a quick yank on the belt and it grabs. They retract fine. I lifted the plastic cover up some and I see a little weight with spring set up that if moved grabs the belt. Is there something I'm missing here. I lubed everything...

    voltmeter to zero.

Well, never did find the spider connector above kick panel. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place. But, turned out to be the head light switch. While I was in there I replaced the aluminum finned thing that has something to do with wipers. I had a spare column and stole it from there. Fixed my...

    voltmeter to zero.

Twice in the last couple of rainy days, my voltmeter has dropped to zero momentarily. first time I had just witched on headlights. Turned them off and volts came back. Today, I turned off lights, no difference but after a few more seconds volts came back. Lights on again. Is this something that...

    Tail light lenses

Anybody have any experience finding aftermarket tail light lenses that fit correctly? I tried two different makes and they did not fit correctly. Gap around outside edge was too large. And the chrome trim would not stay on.. Thanks

    Vacuum question 1986 K5 350

I'm not sure about others. But, I believe the red canister was for cruise control. The front half of that should be rubber.. There is an adjustable rod that goes from that clip on the front to the carburetor linkage.

    Sliding rear window gasket?

I think that one is double sliders. Missing the trim piece on right hand slider. Maybe?

    Sliding rear window gasket?

I'm still shopping. One guy local has window that looks just like this one. Advertised with a new gasket and trim piece. I'm wondering if this is a later model window. Seems a little different from the ones with the larger aluminum frame?? Or is it aftermarket.??

    Sliding rear window gasket?

Thanks for the pics. That helps a lot, especially the one with the glass printing. A friend has one similar that I thought was original but his glass has a company logo on it. So, probably aftermarket. That description about gasket differences also helps. Thanks to everyone that has replied..

    Sliding rear window gasket?

I've only seen two types. One with a small black frame and others with a larger aluminum frame. Kgc4160 above says he thinks the aluminum frame ones are after market.

Scroll down, in the notes says does not work with original slider. Hard to believe.

    Sliding rear window gasket?

Thanks, I have not bought one yet looking at a few online. I contacted the gasket manufacturers and a glass shop that does a lot of classic car work. Nobody makes one to fit the original windows. Kinda crazy. Funny, I also thought the ones with the large aluminum frame were OEM. So, if those are...
