Passing CA Smog help - High HCs

A lot of California Air Resource Board AKA “CARB” approved parts come with a decal that either goes on their part or on the core support. The sticker has an Executive Order “EO” number on it for the tech to look up so they can confirm the part is legal.

Yes we still have the visual equipment inspection in CA, the late model stuff they go as far as running the model/serial number on the cats to ensure they are correct to the vehicle. The fed compliant Cats even from name brand companies like Magnaflow are about 1/4 the cost of CARB compliant...

    Vent window adjustment?

    New Wheel/Tire

I think it looks fantastic and have no advice for different size wheels or tires except my opinion. The aftermarket rally wheels in the larger sizes just look off to me on almost every build I've seen. For larger wheels I recommend venturing away from the rally style. Your truck & your money...

    Vent window adjustment?

How's about a picture of which part you are working on... I assume you are talking about the sheet metal "U" channel the glass mounts in. To get the glass in the channel with the rubber seal it took me probably 20 attempts (per side) to finally get them seated without the rubber seal getting...

C10's with either Big 10, heavy half, (F44) didn't have cats in 75-77. If it's not required to have a cat at all I don't see how a smog tech could ding you for using a federal standard type cat instead of one with a CARB EO. I think federal standard type cats can be had for $130-200 for...

Punching holes in bodywork that won't rust

Why not remove the rear side glass and replace with a piece of sheetmetal... Benefits: 1) Mount the heater to the replacement panel which will keep your burb body intact 2) Gets the heater box up of the floor of the burb where it won't get smothered or smashed by gear etc. 3) If your chinesium...

Yup, heat is so the cat is active when they run the test. A cat would probably fix your HC problem

    Where to buy LS motor?

Last summer one of the junkyards in Reno had a handful of LS motors for what I thought was pretty cheap. All of them had the major sections of the wire harness, PCM’s, transmissions and transfer cases. Two 5.3’s for $8-900 ea Two 6.0’s for $1200 ea

Let's see those 4x4 Squares On Dirt!

Not mine but here’s my buddy’s K5 on the Rubicon summer before last. Things huge and aptly named “Blaze King,” for size comparison the FJ40 behind him is on 42” tires.

Wiper washer motor replacement. Who you buying from?

Since so many people seem to have problems with the GM delay modules I figured it would be worth while eliminating the GM stuff in this instance

Wiper washer motor replacement. Who you buying from?

I was already reworking everything so I went kinda custom with it. Pretty sure their motor needs to be ran with their switch ETA: It’s not plug and play if that’s what you want

    TBI Harness Pigtails

Do any of the 88-94 (GMT400) connectors work? There’s a lot more of that body truck in the junkyards around here and it’s basically the same set up IIRC.

    Vent window repair

I bought a rivet kit on LMC… was a real PIA to smash those suckers. That’s considering the whole assembly was out of the door and two people working together to smash them. I think I will find another way if I ever do another

Super low buck toe plates version 1

That’s a cool way to do it. I just drilled some holes in angle iron and stretch a tape across. I’ve altered the holes a few times for different bolt patterns. They don’t take into account the weight of the vehicle sitting on the hubs though.

Time to put a sound system in the hotrod, wanna bounce some ideas

Eh, sound dampening (butyl stuff) won’t do much if anything for an MDF enclosure, you’ll be better served with some bracing and or an extra layer of MDF. The extra layer really helps on the baffle (speaker hole) side in making the box rigid. I’m not sold on polyfill either if you’re box size is...
