    Vent window latch issues

Hello, so I am rebuilding a 1979 k10 pickup. I cleaned up and repainted the frames on vent windows and new 2 piece rubber from precision as well as one new glass as I had one tinted and one non tinted. So put the windows all back together but now the latch on the new glass won't reach the frame...

Update to my 86 K10 Silverado Shortbed Stepside

What company is the wood bed kit from? I have Installed quite a few wood bed kits and never had a 2 inch gap.

    How many coats of paint?

The color your spraying and the tier of product will determine how many coats of base are needed. A really transparent color like some reds and yellows and a cheaper product line might take more costs of base to get proper coverage. Sealers and tintable sealers can help with this. 3 coats of...

    2wd fuse panel in 4wd

The 4x4 truck has no fuse panel so I have a 2wd parts truck that I took the whole wiring harness out of. They are both 79's but are glass fuses and not ATO style fuses. I think it should work, don't see any problems. Just gonna have to add the wires in for the 4x4 which won't be a big deal...

    2wd fuse panel in 4wd

Just curious if there was any difference from a 2wd fuse panel to a 4wd panel besides not having the the ground wire and the pink/ black wire that ran to the transfer case to light the 4wd indicator on the gauges. Both trucks are 79's.

    New here, building a 82 K10

Truck is now finished. Had to fight with the headers as they were leaking bad on the rear drivers side so ended up cutting the flanges and using remflex gaskets to get them to seal up. Glad to be done this one and ready to cruise around.

    Usa 1 Industries Dash pads

It's a risk sure but lots of parts are on backorder from lots of companies these days. I've never had good luck from LMC and the last urethane dash pad I tried was a horrendous fit so I figured I'd take my chances and pay the money for good quality stuff.

Materials on dash pad? I started out by filling all the cracks in the dash pad and smoothing it all out and then the guy doing the upholstery covered it in the same leather that he is using on the seat. He did a tuck and rolled seam around the gauge cluster hump which is quite thick and looks a...

So close to being done, just waiting on the seat from the upholstery. Recovered dash pad and Headliner installed. Added just some little steps and the trim rings on the wheels.

I would say better than LMC, they deal with Auto Metal Direct for sheet metal I believe, which of all after market suppliers for sheet metal I find the best. I have used AMD for years and have no complaints. I just got the AMD interior mouldings and first glance they look great so we will see...

    New here, building a 82 K10

Coming to the final stages of this build. Just waiting on interior to be finished up. Ended up having the dash pad just recovered as I couldn't get a good fit with the aftermarket one. Getting the parts up here to Canada was the hardest part but I will say USA 1 Industries parts are top notch...

    New here, building a 82 K10

Was repainted at some point and basically everything peeled off to the bare metal. I didn't notice any factory paint so looks like they stripped it before they repainted it and just didn't do proper process in painting it or didn't wait proper times. Whatever they did made my life easier...

Yup must have been at some point. Didn't seem to affect too much for panel fitment. I smoothed it all back out, since it's not seen when the fenders on I didn't worry about making it perfect but it's at least back to proper shape and would really have to look to notice any damage was there.

    New here, building a 82 K10

Truck is all painted and starting to go back together. Still debating on where to order all the interior parts I need. Was gonna use USA 1 but last time I checked they didn't have alot of what I needed in stock and want to do it all in one order to get it shipped to border so I only have to make...

Stepside Fender to Bed Seam Sealant

Usually they use fender welting which is a vinyl type product that has a piping on it to help cover any gaps between the fender and the bedside. This is what I use

    Weatherstripping

Just curious what brands everyone is using for weathstripping? Looking at the Fairchild, SoffSeal, or Precison brands to replace it all on the 82 k10 I'm working on. Thanks

    Rust repair questions

I would suggest aligning all body panels to the fit you want, then I would start with floor pans and cab support, do one side at a time and only cut out what you have to, basically working inside to out. If your cab supports are really bad, when you replace them it may change your alignment on...

    Best Cordless Tools?

I use all Milwaukee every day and have no complaints. I build and restore vehicles as a career so they get used frequently. The biggest benefit was the cordless ratchets they make, saves having to use an air ratchet for hanging body panels and having that airline near freshly painted parts...
