    700R4 nightmares

I have found rebuild set of 4.56 CUCV Detroit locker rear and spicer front, I know I’ll have to reweld rear spring perches. But I’m rebuilding the 700R4 locally and the trani guys said I may need to replace transfer case? That’s new to me, I think it’s an NP241? Any advice would be great! Woody

I can feel the heat on the floor in the bell housing. ahhhHghah! Perfect! I’ll regear to 4:56 and I think I have to match front gears to rear gears, rite? No 4x4 till matched. Is it worth putting a G80 or Tru Trac at the same time? I only want to do this once more! Has a stock posi rear now...

    700R4 nightmares

In checking records, stock it may have 3.42’s in the rear. Could that be cooking my trani? I don’t care about gas mileage 4.56 maybe the best based upon this chart, I tow quite a bit too.

    700R4 nightmares

I think I have 3.73 stocks in the rear, would 4.10 or 4.56 improve the 35” tire problem? I can rebuild an engine or build ya a house, but Trani and gears are not my wheelhouse. Thanks everybody! Woody

    700R4 nightmares

Thanks guys, I’ve had it with repairs, spoke to the wife, new truck $70K plus. Probably gonna have a great local mechanic drop an LS in with a new trani this summer. For now have him order a 700R4 new and drop it in tune with pressure gauges, not the (lawn mower throttle control TV Cable). I...

    700R4 nightmares

I rebuilt it 1st time with a Monster Kit and 1650 stall Tourque converter. Blew valve, shredded it. I rebuilt it again, had trouble shifting 2-3rd. Replaced TV cable, adjusted it with pan open, made sure compressed perfect. Drove and tuned it. 1,000 miles began jumping 4-3 and ran it just in...

New axles from 1500 to 3500?

Trucks in the shop, getting a little TLC from a good TBI emissions guy. Then I’m thinking about these to purchase for the summer sand blasting and painting. Not sure if m1008 or M1028 would be an easier bolt in for a suburban. Mounting the 12K winch in the bumper this weekend and put a 6K on...

New axles from 1500 to 3500?

I have an 1989 V1500 suburban running 35” tires, I just upgraded the leafs, I wanted to swap the stock semi float rear axle from a 10 bolt Chevy 3:08 axle to a 2500 or 3500 rear end in 4:56? I would like to swap the front axle too. Any ideas if there is any easy leaf, shock mount matching axle...

TBI 350 bracket below A/C compressor empty?

I have a ‘89 Burban GMC V1500, TBI, below the A/C compressor, in the same aluminum bracket on the passenger side is an empty bracket pocket, it looks like it could fit an air compressor? Is there an air compressor I could mount in this void to power on bird air? What goes here? Woody

Stalling TBI when braking & warmed up

Still stalls out once it’s warmed up. I’ll check out the brake switch today. Definitely above 140 when the issue starts, rough idle and then stalls after braking. Torque converter makes sense. Will start right back up in P or N. Could TV cable adjustment cause this too? I’m trying to adjust...

Stalling TBI when braking & warmed up

I’ll check out the brake switch, it started when I began playing with the 700r4 TV cable, it was shifting 1st to 2nd around 30 mph way to high in RPM. Reseting TV cable again to original position, so it could be the Torque Converter, it has a 3800 Stall torque converter in it. Thanks Woody
