Fuel is getting pretty expensive here, at the moment ethanol-free 98 (e5) is around €2,05 per liter. On average I need around 50 liters (single tank), which makes a total of €102,50, converted to USD that's around $118,36 according to Google. Some hobbies sure are expensive! Haha she turns some...

How to mount factory Front Air Deflector on 1980 Square Body

I made the first bracket! I used a galvanised metal connecting plate, dimensions 200x15mm, and it involved a lot of walking back and forth from my vice to the truck, marking the metal strip with a sharpie and hammering it into shape bit by bit. It's very sturdy, more than enough to keep the...

How to mount factory Front Air Deflector on 1980 Square Body

Thanks! I was looking for a Squarebody truck for a while, having set some alerts on local car selling platforms. There aren't many for sale over here, but once in a while a nice one pops up. This one in particular I had my eyes on for quite a while actually, and when I finally went to go check...

How to mount factory Front Air Deflector on 1980 Square Body

Thanks man, yours looks great as well! I've posted in the 'introduction' topic a couple of days ago, but that's it! There's probably a couple of look-a-likes on this forum though, lol, or you might recognize it from my YouTube videos? Could've been a previous owner posting pics as well of course.

How to mount factory Front Air Deflector on 1980 Square Body

Thanks! Looks like u-nut number 15 and bolt number 17 are lining up with the frame rails to hold the two center mounts of the deflector (16). I don't have them, but I replaced them with stainless steel M10 nuts, bolts and washers. Thanks for the photos Britt! That's really helpful. It looks...

How to mount factory Front Air Deflector on 1980 Square Body

I had a look last night and did some pre-fitment of the deflector. The side holes seem to line up pretty well with bolts holding the wheel well/fender liner. I tried mounting it that way; center holes mounted to the frame rails with M10 nuts and bolts (will replace with stainless hardware and...

New from the Netherlands (Europe) • 1980 GMC C1500 Stepside

Thanks man! Haha the 'normal' Neon was the first car I owned, and man was I happy with it, mainly because it was a Chrysler! My first car was American made! Of course it was just a family mobile, but for 1250 euros it had airconditioning, a back seat for friends and/or family, a big trunk for...

New from the Netherlands (Europe) • 1980 GMC C1500 Stepside

Thank you! Yeah the SRT-4 sure was an awesome car, and people always underestimated it, especially here in Europe where almost nobody knows what's actually underneath that hood until you pull away from them at traffic lights, lol! My SRT-4 also happened to come from Germany, pre-owned by an...

How to mount factory Front Air Deflector on 1980 Square Body

That would be great, thank you! Yeah that's what I'm thinking too.. there is nothing in that spot on the truck itself, so I'll probably have to make a bracket of some sorts for this..

How to mount factory Front Air Deflector on 1980 Square Body

Apparently part number 14014391 fits trucks from 1973-1980.. These are positioned a bit further back than the later models, approximately underneath the radiator mounted to the frame rails, instead of directly beneath the front bumper.

That's very clever, thanks for showing me! Might be a fun weekend project some day.

How to mount factory Front Air Deflector on 1980 Square Body

Thank you! Yes I have seen that diagram, but it's not very clear on the actual mounting of the deflector.. looks like it's only bolted to the frame through the two center holes, but why then would there be any (weirdly shaped) holes at all on the outsides of the deflector? Seems to me the...

Thank god that hitch is removable, but yes it does a great job protecting my rear chrome lol! Thanks man!

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a while now, soaking up a lot of information, and finally decided to join. I live in the Netherlands (Europe) where American cars are pretty rare, especially the ones that are driven daily (and not only seeing the light of day on sunday afternoons or at car...

How to mount factory Front Air Deflector on 1980 Square Body

I almost can't believe it myself, but I managed to find a genuine front air deflector / air dam for my 1980 Square Body GMC, part number GM 14014391, with minimal shelf wear. These things are supposedly very rare nowadays, especially new ones. I'm from the Netherlands (Europe) and found the...
