With as much access as you have to the top rivets to put new ones in, no reason to fight trying to get that in with it together. I'd lay money the factory riveted them after too. Once I did it that way I wondered whether the weatherstrip manufacturer avoided saying to do that in hopes of people...

    TH-400 w/Carrier Bearing?

We special ordered a single wheel K30 cab and chassis in 1978 and it had the 2 piece driveshaft. Had a 350 with a TH400 automatic trans. with standard long bed wheelbase. We had nothing but problems with the 2 piece as the shaft would lock on the splines of the carrier bearing and force it to...

New and picked another one up.

New inner door panels came today and got the interior better. Had gotten a new rubber floor a while back.

New and picked another one up.

Life has a way of slowing you down but got the k30 back together and just took it for a test run. No leaks, shifted fine and everything works so that is a win to me. 38.5" Boggers with a homemade 2 inch body lift and reworked the front fenders for more clearance. The will be a work truck and...

    Precision Vent Window Program

The way their video shows is the hard way. Here is what works WAY easier. This method can be done quicker without the fighting. Drill out the 2 rivets at the top of the frame that holds it together. They are out in the open and super easy to replace. Once that is done, push in the top section...

Has anyone done the $50 Rustoleum Paint Job on their Square???

I just did this on my project truck and I'll relay what I found. I used the local farm store (Tractor Supply Company) paint and it was around $30.00/gal. Using the mini roller I used it does leave it pretty rough. If you want to cut and buff( wet sand and buff out), you need to do at LEAST 2...

Fender to tire clearance the same side to side?

Another open cab with a conversion. Crazy how many different brand cabs people used to "get inside". LOL Don't blame them either!

Fender to tire clearance the same side to side?

More the time involved as i did all the work. No powdercoat on it, it is all paint I sprayed. You guys may like the frame. Only one crossmember was stock, the rest were modified or strengthened. All unused holes were welded shut and smoothed. Inside of frame looks like the outside. Did it over a...

Fender to tire clearance the same side to side?

Good idea. I'll give that a shot when I get back on it.

Fender to tire clearance the same side to side?

Hadn't thought of a Spring sag but odd it would be on just one side. Something to look for. The Driver side fender is just closer to tire(meaning down more). There is a reason for as little lift as possible. I did make a 2 inch body lift and it is on. The truck will be a wood hauler. I'm making...

Fender to tire clearance the same side to side?

Building a work truck and got the cab back on and threw the front end on just for grins. Wanted to see the tire clearance. Cab had basically everything replaced underneath. I'm going to run 38 1/2" Boggers and don't want any more lift. I'm cutting the fenders. My question is should the tire to...

Need a combination valve for 4 wheel disc brakes.

As promised wanted to give a follow up for anyone else who ever does this. They are the same dimensionally and all hole/thread sizes are the same so it's a direct bolt in. You don't have to change any of your existing lines in the front. Looks like either of these 2 part numbers will work as...

Need a combination valve for 4 wheel disc brakes.

Well, went to a couple parts stores and my one good counter guy came back. He found it but would have to order and it was $129.00 THEIR cost. Took 77 K20's suggestion and looked for the PV 72 and found a place with schematic of size and thread sizes. It is the same as mine so I ordered it...

    Rear discs

As far as I know any of the kits brackets work with either Non parking brake or parking brake Calipers. Just a matter of buying them. The parking brake are Cadillac calipers and pretty expensive so most do not want them. The bolt pattern is the same for either style.

Need a combination valve for 4 wheel disc brakes.

I was told by a friend today that some newer Chevy 1 tons have 4 wheel discs from the factory? Just trying to get a year range as I know the counter guys will be helpless to know what to look for. My main thing is I want to verify they are the same fitting wise so if I buy mail order I can be...

Need a combination valve for 4 wheel disc brakes.

I guess I'm not alone in not knowing. LOL All the good parts counter guys I know have retired.

Need a combination valve for 4 wheel disc brakes.

I have a 1980 K30 that I'm building for a work truck. Switching to rear discs and wanted to know if anyone knows a part number or what year truck is a direct bolt in.(if possible) In other words, the lines will be in the same locations and bolt up to the frame crossmember the same. I did this...

What have you done to your square lately??

Doing a little touch up on the floor.

Need some measurements from a cab off the frame.

I need some measurements to verify my positions before welding. The truck I'm working on had nothing to go off of as things have been change. They replaced the outer rockers only. The inners were gone with just flat sheet tacked in to fill the space. Original front cab mounts were "replaced" but...

    New floor and question.

Finally got started on the cab today. First area to do is the cowl to firewall. rusted through. Doing a smaller section at a time to keep everything in place as I go. Got the weld settings better here. This is going to take a while. LOL

    New floor and question.

I measured it for you and it is 49 inches. That is more than needed but you'd be more than safe with that. You may just have to stand on a chair if you want to work on the underside of the cab when upside down. I would not bother with making it up and down adjustable. I haven't seen the need...

    New floor and question.

Make it so you can adjust it like mine. Look close and you can see the whole center section is adjustable. Yes, it is balance there when in the normal position but they always over center at some point. That is why the hand winch is needed. Here is a link to building it originally. It's worth...

    New floor and question.

I made it all up when I did my Dodge Military Truck. Shares the same cab as the Old style Power Wagons and will do the 2 other trucks I have here in the future. That is why I made a dedictaed set up to do the easily. I made some quick bolt on adaptors to use the same door mount. Uses the door...

    New floor and question.

Thanks guys. It's such a catch 22. Leaving just paint you tend to scratch it off and then you'll get to bare metal. With Rubber it is fine till you get a hole you may not see then the water can't get air to evaporate and starts the rust process. I do have some time till I get ready to seal as...

    New floor and question.

It is being redone as well as where the cowl met the firewall had holes. We have salt, brine, humidity and beet juice spread in the Winter which is extremely hard on metal and gets dragged into the cab as well. Location has a lot to do with how bad it gets and we are in the rust belt. It's like...
