Transmission Issue ??

A/C Switch
I recently purchased 85 c10 and there is a toggle switch below the driver side dash that was added. I followed the wires and they run to a/c compressor and wiring to evap case. Any idea why this was added? Possibly an a/c switch went bad. I flip switch with fan running and a/c compressor kicks...
