    Sm465 no pilot bushing?

Replacing the clutch in my 73 k10 with sm465, bought a luk 04-902 clutch and LFW101 flywheel. The pilot bearing in the kit doesn't fit my crank and frankly the hole is barely bigger than the tip of my input shaft. I'm not even sure there was a pilot bearing on this at all. Has anyone seen this...

    74 k10 clutch job

I think both methods are pretty easy on the removal, what I worry about is ease of alignment. Had any issues on the reinstall before? I wouldn't bet a dime thats not the issue...

    74 k10 clutch job

How difficult was it so slide everything together afterwards? Totally different animal, but when I did the clutch in my fiero I had to drop the cradle and pull everything apart. I ended up trying to slide the transaxle onto the engine while on an engine lift. It was kindof a pain to align...

    74 k10 clutch job

Long time no see fellas! I recently bought a house and needed a truck to move so I snagged a 74 k10 with sm465. Its been great but all of a sudden the clutch is stuck engaged when I go to park it one day. Feels like I lost connection to the pressure plate, all I feel through the clutch pedal is...

FINALLY installing vortec 350. Mechanical fuel pump?

Well ive got the engine and new tranny in the truck, its about ready to start minus the distributor but theres one problem. When priming the oil pump with a drill, the bit fell into the engine... will i be able to reach it if i drain the oil and remove the pan? Sent from my SM-G920V using...

FINALLY installing vortec 350. Mechanical fuel pump?

Whoops its .060. I was thinking .045 for hei but i have read platinum or iridium plugs shouldnt have the gap changed? Could the hei system handle .060 without damage? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

FINALLY installing vortec 350. Mechanical fuel pump?

Its in the truck just doing the finishing bits. Stock vortec calls for .065 spark plug gap, but im used to running hei at .045. Which should i run? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

Lots of good info. I found a rebuilt 700r4 with a new torque converter for $300 and just snagged it. 20k on the rebuild so sounded like a good deal cuz tranny shops are all asking for 900 plus per rebuild. Im putting that in for now, and might just assemble the required parts for the manual...

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

Awesome. Sounds like i may go with the sm465. If i decided to do the nv3500 at a later date, do the flywheel and clutch setup work like in the A833 and sm465 also? I read the A833 calls for a larger clutch but everything is the same style and would bolt up. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

Do the later sm465s, A833s and nv3500 all use 32 spline with the same round bolt pattern my stock 700r4/np208 uses? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

Edit: When it comes to spending time and money... i really would rather spend it on a manual. I honestly hate autos. So its really between sm465, a833, and nv3500. Otherwise ill get a rebuilt 700r4 i found for 350 and call it good for now. Wouldnt i need electronic controls for the 4l80e...

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

Id rather not have to modify my crossmember and driveshaft setup... other than the tranny, and maybe the 32 spline np 208, the rest of the parts should be easy to find right? I might would have to source new parts but otherwise im paying to have my tranny rebuilt.. and itll cost more to change...

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

Sounds pretty complicated for now i need to get back on the road. Ive been told in another thread to consider a np833. Im going to check out hotrods writeup Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

Im sorry I was confused by what you meant by the bellhousing being different. So same bolt pattern, different mounting points? From what I understand its the crossmember, driveshafts, clutch pedal and linkage, clutch and flywheel that i need to address? What about using the stock np208? Sent...

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

Thanks. Ive never swapped a manual before so dont really know whats involved. Im also confused about the bellhousing. Would it use an adapter or something? I was under the impression that the bellhousings were the same but did read somewhere that they had changed them. What do you have to do...

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

    Which 350 ?

My 97 vortec 350 was machined for a mechanical fuelpump aswell. Had to double check before buying! The issue with the carb is rectified with just an intake but yes that does cost money. And the heads can be pretty easily worked with for more lift but yes thats time and or money. I get where...

    Which 350 ?

Get a vortec 350. 1 piece rear and just really needs the intake and a fuelpump to make work with a carb. (Bout to swap mine in just need to address the fuel pump issue as im not positive mine has the cam lobe for a mechanical pump). In my opinion best economical way to start. Just look at the...
