Stolen Squarebodies to be on the look out for.

It kinda surprises me that anyone knows how to steal an old vehicle anymore. I keep picturing some guy in a hoodie holding a laptop standing beside the key only door and crank windows and wondering why his theft program is not working. LOL Like those car jacking stories where the thief jumps...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ouch! We are not that bad off but here in WV we get pegged for taxes, registered or not. That leads to a fair amount of titles that get delayed, or never changed over. A lot of "skip" titles as well, it is common for sellers to not date their signatures out of habit. lol

    For all you cap people.....

If you have a truck and a cap you always have a way to make money and a dry place to sleep. -- As told to a much younger me by a greybeard. Anyone have an easy way to pull, store, and reinstall them? I have one I used for fishing trips but haven't put it on in years on account of it being a PITA.

What have you done to your square lately??

Have not had much time to play but put in a couple hours this week digging down to the turn signal assembly. Had a bit of rust in there some of which had made a home on the splines making the quickie steering wheel removal into a time eating thing. What I thought was just some surface rust was...

    79 k10 bed weight

You will be a hero to generations! LOL You can find near anything on the web but for some reason this weight is a deep dark secret.

    79 k10 bed weight

I poked around the web real quick and found no definitive answer. The closest I found was one fellow who claimed his short bed went 400. My '82 3/4 ton had only 1250lb rear leaf springs, from the factory. I recently swapped for 1850 lbers. I don't know what my '86 C10 has or if it is...

What have you done to your square lately??

Before the cold snap, Painted the tail light housings, (that the PO apparently found too difficult to remove or mask before his cheap carmine red paint job) in a bright gloss white. Kind of an experiment to see if the white is any brighter than the factory silver. As soon as we get back up...

Pic of intermediate harness at firewall?

Anyone have a good pic of the rear intermediate harness at firewall? In hunting my rear light blinker and brake light issue on my 82 K20 I discovered that the rear intermediate harness had been butchered and rerouted to power a bed plug-in for what I think was a slide in camper. In looking at...

    Side window defrost add?

I was reading a thread on reddit the other day and a fellow confessed to being an automotive engineer. I told him that now I had a name to go with my cussing of engineers and when his ears caught fire he would know I was working on something. LOL

    Grill and bumper swap

Carriage bolts, There should be nuts behind the bumper. With old trucks you always have to say,, "should be" LOL

    Grill and bumper swap

Headache rack is cool,, the Bumper Guard things bolt on, no need to swap the whole bumper just to get them.

    Side window defrost add?

Hmm,, If you had a floor console I wouldn't think it would be too big a project to run ducting to the back window and defrost both it and the side windows the from the rear. The trick would be to make the plumbing look decent and if there is enough airflow to pull it off. Booster fan? Or...

    Signal, Brake and Headlight Issues

These might make you feel better! Had a neighbor with an S10 once who was sure his fuel pump had failed, had the truck towed home, did without the truck until payday, bought a pump, pulled the bed, pulled the pump,, and it was dry. Just out of gas. --BTW, The gauge worked fine. Same kid who...

Hi everyone! First forum with new vehicle

Before you get too involved chasing the "park brake light" try this, Lift the park brake lever with your toe and see if the light goes out. The PB lever on my 86 C10 sometimes sticks just shy of turning the light off and needs a little help. Yours might also be lazy.

    Turn signal flasher question

Yes, every light in the front is now working. I still have the problem with the rear D side-- no brake, no flash-- but I have not dived into that yet as I initially suspected that the front and rear issues were related. Yes, the side markers alternate with the front. Our squares are getting...

    Turn signal flasher question

I also have been chasing D side blinker and brake light issues on my 82 K20. Just for grins I swapped in a functioning flasher unit from my 86 C10 and did get the D side marker to flash. Slipped on down to the parts store and picked up a new flasher and that got me both the D side marker and...

    Gauge needle color?

Thank you for the replies. I have also hunted through the interwebs and it looks like, short of changing gauges to a lighted needle or bulb colors, I am pretty much stuck with orange or red-orange if I want to be able to mark them at a glance after dark.

    Gauge needle color?

With stock incandescents, is there a color or combo that works well? --Other than the orange. On my 79 C10 I got the bright idea to color match the needles to the body/interior Carmine which looked great,,,, until night time when they became a pain to see. 20 years later another Carmine...

    Painting interior trim

How badly worn are they? On my 86 C10 they were worn bad. Cleaned em good, sanded off the loose vinyl, hit them with a light coat of rattle can bed liner, duplo I think it was, gave em a very light sanding to knock the grit down a bit and rattle canned lightly over that. Certainly not factory...
