    Fuel Tank Selector Valve Porting

Space is at a premium for installing a reducing splice...at least one that is the full 2"long... I may need to trim the length... How much pressure does the return hose see? There is no real restriction in the line to induce back pressure.....

    Fuel Tank Selector Valve Porting

I received my dual tank selector valve yesterday for my '84 C-10. Fuel supply ports are 3/8", the correct size. The return ports should be for 1/4" hose, but they are 5/16" Are ALL selector valves like that now?? Now that i have a new selector switch I have verified that my old valve is...

    84 C10 Gas Tank Refurb

BTW...I had read somewhere that the fuel line sizes are: Fuel line............3/8" Return line........5/16" Vent..................1/4" Those sizes do make sense But, that is not accurate per my plumbing. The vent line is 5/16" and the return line is 1/4" Looking at the sending unit that makes...

    84 C10 Gas Tank Refurb

Well, NO tefurb to be done here.........REPLACE !! The RH tank had apparently been replaced B-4. There was junk yard grease pen marking on top.. While cleaning the exterior there was significant rust on the outside, front and rear. Pretty deep pitting.......... Inspection of the LH tank shows a...

    Dual Tank Valve Ground

You are correct. I was able to see +12v at the harness when the switch was pressed up, then -12v when pushed down. But, then the voltage went wacky...like 3 to 4v...each direction. I did hot wire the valve and it moves in both directions.....a good thing. Just not when I try with the switch...

    Dual Tank Valve Ground

Be that the case, then for one tank, one green wire is 12v + and the other is ground, then they swap for the other tank position of the switch... I will check that out. But, if true, I should be able to read 12v from one green to ground when switch is pushed up, and between the other green wire...

    Dual Tank Valve Ground

Seems like a simple question: 1984 C-10 gas engine. How is the dual tank switching valve grounded?? Only thing I can see is that the valve is grounded thru the gauge sending unit?? Doesn't make much sense to me. But I have pored over the schematics ans I can see NO ground wire anywhere...

    84 C10 Gas Tank Refurb

The show so far. Passenger side tank is first. I disconnected the fuel supply, return and vent hoses from the tank. Well, cut them actually as I would not want to reuse them....... Dropped the tank, cleaned off the dirt from around the sending unit and removed the sending unit/pick up. The tank...

    84 C10 Gas Tank Refurb

I have the bed off my '84 C10. I need to R&R my gas tanks. Is there a recommended procedure for this? Do the tanks drop down before removing all the (many) lines/tubes?

    wood dimentions

Measure the spacing of the holes in the cross braces.....that should give you some idea.

    wood dimentions

5/4 will typically be about 1" thick, but you really need 7-1/4" wide finished dimension or you will need an additional metal strip and have to drill a bunch of holes n the cross braces...

    Maple For Truck Bed

I have been told that what you described is actually quarter-sawn........so confused.....
  15. Ronno6

    wood dimentions

There should be 7 boards, and the total width is 50" under the side angles. That would make it 3/4" X 7-1/4" X 78" in length....I BELIEVE Maybe someone can verify......... I am having my white oak planed to 7/8" BTW ed...I remeasured and found the overall width to be 50" The one remaining...

    Maple For Truck Bed

I think the white oak deal is gonna get the nod. Will be rough sewn so a bunch of cranking on the planer is in the cards. I may add some color to the BLS oil...... Then I have to do something to the metal seam strips.

    Maple For Truck Bed

Well, thicker planks would sit hither than the angles at the walls of the bed. The strips between boards would only sit as low as the depth I to which machined the edges..... I would just need longer screws....

    Maple For Truck Bed

Is it a good idea to make the planks thicker than OEM and dado the edges to fit under the side angles? Seems to me that the original wood was pretty thin.......

    Maple For Truck Bed

Mr. Aaron, Thanks for that. What I thought to be maple turned out to be cedar anyway. Seems to me that I have seen some rough sawn cypress from sunken logs on FB somewhere. I have a planer, so rough is no problem. I have some red grandis' which is a eucalyptus that would work really well, but it...
