The front panel of the inner fenders and all the sheet metal around the radiator has been coated with black epoxy primer ... Some more work and another coat of primer and they will be ready to top coat with epoxy Hot-Rod black ... Step by step it's coming together !- dragstews

Finally got the inner fenders done .. Did do a bit of work to them with welding unused holes up, sand blasting and epoxy primer ... The engine side was top coated with bed-liner .. Already did the underside of the hood months ago .. Tire side has been coated with Por-15 and will be...- dragstews

Well how bout that ?!? ... Was in the mode of torquing the plate on, doing three equal steps, 25-50 and final torque at 80 ft lbs .. The 25 went down as it should have, the 50 was going good too until next to the last bolt pulled the threads out of the block ... "Great Horny Toads" and a few...- dragstews

No modifications are needed to install .. Take off the inlet fittings from the carb bowls, spring goes in first then the sintered bronze filter, there's a small paper gasket that the filter sits on making a seal between the filter and inlet fitting .. Once installed no signs can be seen that...- dragstews

Redo work is on the table .. Was trying to match the grain & color that the steering wheel has .. After doing the work on the dash, seen that it was a bit to dark .. Going to try again .. Different base color .. Might be getting closer to a match ?? Going forward with job, soon to...- dragstews

Kinda stuck with moving forward on the 496" motor build .. I'm needing to buy some tooling to finish prepping the block .. Been in the mode of saving up the money to get these two items .. Should have them here by the end of next week .. The block won't be ready for final assembly after...- dragstews

Found a nice spot for the oil temp gauge, under it is the display for the trans temp .. Worked out better than I expected .. Kinda liking this gauge cause at 250 degrees it starts to flash .. At that temp it's almost like ; 'Oops too Late' The ideal temperature for a 454 BBC engine's oil...- dragstews

Won't matter a great deal cause whatever cooler I come up with will need homespun brackets to be made up .. Got all kinds of room under the radiator, being in the air flow will be a huge plus .. A word on the oil temp gauge, coming from Canada .. It's stuck in customs, been a few days and...- dragstews

I'll leave it where it's at ... Do think for the most actual oil temp would be having the gauge installed near the bottom of the oil pan ... Not wanting to drill a hole in the aluminum pan, did think about drilling a hole in the drain plug, having the wire running down the side of the pan...- dragstews

Where the oil temp probe is at is in the oil gallery feeding the main bearings .. Constant moving flow of oil ... The gauge should read pretty close to the actual temp .. Working on nailing down a 25 row cooler .. It may be more than what's needed, but for the dollar I'm giving for it .. ...- dragstews
