What new tools have you got lately?

Still have one I made way back then...found it in my tools a few weeks ago and was puzzled over why I had ground it down to a thin wall till I was going over the tools I needed, lol.

What new tools have you got lately?

Building the Th400 in my '80 K30 since it's going to be a plow truck and pull an ungodly amount behind a 454 and it looks like it is bone stock. Been so long since I did an auto that I didn't have tools anymore, lol.

400 SBC heads weird casting number

They should work as a set just fine. If you don't want to rebuild a set of 400 heads and have a good set of 350 heads laying around, just drill the steam holes in the heads and your good to go...

Tach wire on HEI - Does anything else use this signal?

My favorite boat I picked up for free was a '67 Electra 225 4 door HT with a 430 big block. Hauled it away for free, spent $200 getting it running, brakes and tires. Car just floated down the road, loved that beast!

Hold back the tears...it's gonna make you cry.

They don't sell squat anymore. I used to live near Herlong army base in California, was a munitions disposal site when they were still allowed to blow up old ordinance. There was a dump that the county had where the army took everything waste that they didn't bury (dad was a civil engineer...

Tach wire on HEI - Does anything else use this signal?

You found grandma's LeSaber, lol. Can't think of anything other than tach that it can be used for either. Not sure I'd run it very far, isn't that the temp sensor with no wiring and open hole for PVC with hose going elsewhere from carb?

What new tools have you got lately?

Haven't built an auto trans for a long time, so needed some basic tools. Here is the case holder I just bought, can mount it in to an engine stand by the two bolts to two of the stand arms to rotate it for working without being mounted on my bench.

    Dash Pad Covers

Carpet just goes over the dash, usually sticks on with velcro glue strips. Be warned, all carpet covers are NOT created equal, lol. So far, been rare that I found one that everything was sewn correctly and lined up with vents. Same for dash caps. I have had good experience with usa1interiors...

Electric fuel pump suggestions - For Carburetor

Another thing to think of is heat from the exhaust pipe when you put a pump on the rail. I believe in giving everything the best chance to survive, so when I put an electric near the pipes, I rob the shields for the mufflers off a C30 and mount them around the pipes. Or make your own out of...

    Cost of spring rebuild

Lol, I thought so. I know the price of springs has went up for some things, just thought I would check. Was going to buy a set of Carli 1" lift offset rears for my 05 Dodge 3500 last year, then they were around $1000...last week they were almost $1800. Not going to happen just to fit 37's under...

    Cost of spring rebuild

Just out of curiosity, I called a local shop in Spokane and asked for an estimate to get my springs for my project K30 refurbished. They are 56" 1 ton 9 leaf with factory overload with no broken leafs and just a tiny bit of wear on the ends of the overload leafs from hitting the stops. Since had...

    C10 body on K10 frame

In the process of doing that with a c30 cab onto K30. Took the removable cover out of the K30 cab (auto, high hump) and matching it into c30 cab (manual, high hump). Once I get my outline on floor, measuring and cutting out what doesn't need to be there. May just cut the section of floor out of...

    Joys of the 10 bolt

Because of locktite usually present on bolts like this, I always have a map gas torch and heat up around bolt first, attempt to tighten it not till it moves, just till I reach torque, then back it out and at any point when it feels more resistance on removal, go back 2 threads or so after...

    1980 K30 3" lift block question

Hi guys, I'm looking for good quality 3" iron tapered lift blocks for my '80 K30, preferably in a kit with the U-bolts. Anyone know of a kit part number and where to buy? Been searching around, can't seem to find what I'm after...will block for K20 work or is it different pin? Getting ready to...
