    VARMITS

Probably worth verifying but I was told that dryer sheets (like bounce) keep mice away, and found that leaving a bunch of dryer sheets in the interior was a better experience than moth balls.

ESC need someone that knows more about ESC system than I do

I went through trying to revive esc in my rusty rebuild and actually found that the truck ran better without it (a lot better). That said, if you are in need I do have a working esc module that I picked up and subsequently have just lying around and would let it go for a reasonable recoup of...

Hood adjuster pins on the cowl???

Probably a little bit of all that. I removed them and at least can open the hood without trouble. The hood is bent on the side that was catching so it’s likely I could massage it some and reinstall them. It Also looks like the hood is installed a little low. I will post up some pictures. This...

Hood adjuster pins on the cowl???

I can’t find any other reference. When I go to open the (cowl) hood on this particular truck, the rear of the hood ducks down and snags the pin. Worried I’m going to deform the hood. Any tips anybody? I’m thinking about removing the pins or at least shortening them.

Hood adjuster pins on the cowl???

Can somebody name this part for me and tell me what it’s supposed to do? Mine are catching on the back side of a cowl hood and causing some damage when opening the hood. (This is not my truck, I scavenged the photo from the inter webs).

Green Gas Monkey Wrecked Truck being rebuilt.

That’s nothing. The latest c10 I bought had a pair of vice grips holding the bumper to the frame horn.

‘Roadster Shop’ Chassis for Square Body C10s

Looks expensive. :-) Amazing that the intent is to create new truck driving feel with old truck body aesthetics. How much of that is nostalgia? I keep an old truck because I get a kick out of having and maintaining an old truck. If I have an old truck body on a new truck then isn’t that...

Where did you order your carpet from?

What he said. You will be much happier if it can lay out and relax in a warm space for a few days. It can be a real pain to work around those kinks from it being folded.

    High Beam Switch

There’s a switch that is activated by a rod in the steering column. That switch gets gummed up and can break. It has a rotary contact in it that can also make for some odd intermittent action. The switch is actually pretty accessible (not easy, but accessible, probably only a few cuss words)...

    Vent Windows

Wasn’t too bad. Mine were solid but poor looking. I replaced the latch and blasted and painted the frame. I agree the seal replacement isn’t bad after you’ve done one. The first one took me a while and I had to do it over. I posted about it a while back. Having done them; I would have a hard...

    Removing Old Paint

I just realized you have slicks on it. I guess you mean "go really fast." :-)

    Removing Old Paint

That's funny. I actually bought my rusty c10 partly as a "learning platform" for a lot of body work and paint items that I wasn't willing to try on a chevelle I've been restoring.

    Removing Old Paint

Here's an example video using BLO for patina. Didn't watch the whole thing but there are plenty of examples of patina treatment with BLO and mineral spirits.

    Removing Old Paint

If you want / like that then I would go with the sander, and then possibly hit the rusty spots with some boiled linseed oil (just google "patina treatment with boiled linseed oil") to help season the rusty spots and perhaps slow them down.

    Removing Old Paint

Yeah, I think that unless you want to bubble off all the paint I would stay away from chemical strippers like airplane remover (always loved that name). I like the idea of seeing what happens with lacquer thinner maybe on some steel wool. You'd be surprised at what that can remove. I think...

What to do while I get things ready for paint?

Couple things…. There are UV stable epoxies. Just have to look. Pretty sure SPI is UV stable. I have used a bunch of the black and it has not chalked up. On the sanding need, I think you are referring to the need to scuff epoxy to create a new “key” for a new coat to grab. That’s right but...

What to do while I get things ready for paint?

Epoxy primer will seal it and can be driven around without issue for as long as you want.

    Favorite Project Truck Sales Pitches

Yeah I have to agree. I started the thread looking for laughs about BS sales pitches that you knew we’re gonna cost you money but have probably had the most fun with this one and with the “bottled hell” listing.

    Favorite Project Truck Sales Pitches

I’m just looking for a little bit of levity on this one. We have probably all come across funny sales pitches in project truck listings, so I figured I would try to see what others have found funny. I was looking at a listing today of a truck that has been taken down to the frame with metal...

Tool Recommend request - For sanding and striping panels and such

Yeah. Blowtorch and one of those screwdriver shaped scrapers should work. Heat gun is probably safer. I did the same for old seam sealer. As to what tools to buy: if you are just starting out I would go for a little more versatility than that surface conditioner that requires those barrel...

    Brake line, opinions needed.

Had this happen on an old Cadillac I owned years ago. Pedal went from firm to squish in a moment. Brake fluid everywhere. Scary.
