Maybe paint it OD green or camo like Enviro Police and put Wild Life Management on the door. Go with geeen lights or something that means nothing to nobody. Check your local laws. ;)

    Sandblasting advice needed.

As stated, lots depends on the media and pressures. I don't think that residue is a huge concern. It's not an oil pan. However if it is, look into dry ice blasting. Another thing. If the bed liner is kind of rubbery, it's hard to strip with most media blasting. Also, what kind of shape is the...

Auto or manual locking hub ?

You're right. It's much less pronounced with the transfer case disengaged. I still pick up a sense of uneven motion at steering lock, but it's probably more drag than actual binding. Maybe I need U-joints or something.

Auto or manual locking hub ?

You just reminded me.... Tight turns with locked hubs, truck no likey. Trying to get the wheels to turn at such different rates while they're attached to a differential makes for a lot of binding and hopping. So there's a minor downside to keeping hubs locked.

Auto or manual locking hub ?

Same here as most of the advice given. It depends on your usage. I mostly use the 4WD for snow and other poor traction conditions. Auto hubs for me all day. The only time I've ever had an issue was once when I used the wrong grease. Hi Temp grease makes them hang up in the cold and not unlock...

Please help me figure out this noise! Video included.

Unless you're hot rodding things the auto hubs don't usually fail because they're "weak" they fail from lack of maintenance. Why don't you try taking them apart and see what kind of shape they are in? Often they can be brought back with a good cleaning and fresh grease.

What new tools have you got lately?

Yes. It replaces a pickle fork with a press. Try to keep up. P.S. A pickle fork is a ball joint separator.

There is supposed to be an extra plate between one of the bolts and the front spring mount on a K. No idea what they look like on a C.

Vinwiki has a while series of stories about imitation cop cars. I haven't watched any but this one, but I'll bet they're all similar.

    1977 C10 Police Truck

While I think it's cool as a concept, it sounds like a good way to get acquainted with the real police in a hurry. Maybe use the word Patrol on the side instead but you'd still have to look into the legalities. I remember reading about a guy who had an old FHP Mustang that he would take to car...

Well,... either get a smaller snowblower or invest in a graduated cylinder to measure your oil. Decisions, decisions.

How to time my engine, with a cam degreed at 1.25 degrees advanced??

I think my 455 was base timed to 4° BTDC with the vacuum advance disconnected. Zero sounds a tad on the low side. Never did total advance since it was just stock and set to factory spec.

    Quadrajet too rich!

Check for leaking well plugs. Simple fix, but can lead to uncontrolled extra fuel in the system.

I swear Cummins never made two engines the same. If you ever get a look at the spec books the variations will astound you.

Gotcha. Apparently you need some cables. Mine is still factory so let me know if you need more info. Except how to adjust it. That makes zero sense to me.

Sorry it's not a great pic. It's raining and I didn't really feel like getting wet. I can get a better one Monday if you need. Trust me, it's just hanging there. That plastic pice and screw is the shield for th fuel tank.

Can't speak specifically to an MTD, but I've never had to change a shear pin in my life. However, considering the so-so quality of the MTD, if you have access to them and they're not too challenging to remove you may want to pull them and check for bent or worn. Chains. Skip the ballast. My...

    Diesel won’t start

If the rest of the system is 24V the pump solenoids are probably 24V too. The cover should be stamped 24V if it is. It's rare for solenoids to go bad where they will just let go in the middle of the ride. Frankly I don't think I've ever seen it. Once they're pulled in, they're in. So carry a...
