What have you done to your square lately??

Keep in mind that on quad systems there is a separate high-beam lamp, but the low-beam lamp also has a high-beam mode, so all four lamps should be on when in high-beam. There will be three terminals on the low-beam lamp, a common ground and one each for the high and low positives. The high-beam...

    6.2 to 350 swap

Chitty mileage? I did the reverse swap, so I probably can't help. But I wish you luck. The only suggestion I have to offer is to see if you can get a GM harness for the 350 instead of reworking the diesel harness. There's a lot more 350s going to the boneyard that harnesses can be scavenged...

New brake shoe is coming off of anchor pin

I'm going to ask the standard questions. Did the brakes behave normally before you changed them. Did you compare the old parts to the new parts to mke sure they matched? Did you reset the adjuster when you changed everything? At least we know you can spell Derek right.

What have you done to your square lately??

Nice to see a 5.7 still chugging along. They weren't quite as bad as most people thought. Especially the later ones.

Rear brake seem to be grabbing harder than fronts

Ah, I see. I'd have to dig through the spec books to see where these things emerged, but I'd suspect that the C6P package emerged with the '81 redesign that brought about the 9.5" axle and the NP208 X-fer case. I'm fairly certain that's when the frame modulus changed in the K20s from singular...

Rear brake seem to be grabbing harder than fronts

There's a combination valve on the front crossmember of all of these trucks. The LSPV is added to the ones with the big brakes.

    Why automotive grounds are important.

Once upon a time that was more common. While technically more correct somewhere along the line we standardized on negative ground. The real problem comes in if you're working on an older vehicle and don't realize it's positive ground. I was trying to do some diagnostics on an early 1970s Mack...

Would it hurt your brain if I told you DC actually flows from negative to positive?

    How a relay works

Repeating something that was drummed into me by a GM electrical engineer... "A relay allows a low current circuit to control a high current circuit." Just keep that in the back of your brain while you're working through this. Carry on.

    Brake size 11" or 13 ?

C6P would be the RPO for the heavy-duty 8600 GVW package that would include the JD7 brakes.

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

I think its going to be a lot cheaper and easier than the last project. As long as it doesn't have corrosion issues.

9 in ford in square body?

Unless you're going racing, or working on a multi-link rear, why?

Inside diameter. Re: above I have a semi floater with 13" drums.

    6.2l diesel electrical problem!!!

I'm referring to the '85 5 pin relay/sensor module on the back of the driver side head. '84 and before had the cylindrical sensor and Ford starter solenoid looking relay mounted on the fender. I'd post a pic, but don't have anything in my pocket right now.

    6.5 turbo swap

Compression isn't an issue in these applications. It's not a gas engine. I ran 10-12 psi on my 6.2. Make sure you run a pyrometer no matter which setup you use. Actually I'd strongly advise against lowering compression in any way. It's detrimental to cold starting and efficiency. If you're...

Need a new one, so Sliding or Solid Rear Window?

Mine came with a solid and regular tint. When the sun was behind you you needed SPF 50. After an accident that broke the window we had a deep tinted slider put in. I'd never go back. Cooler, pass thru for some things, and being able to crack it open with one hand which kills all the buffeting...

    6.2l diesel electrical problem!!!

It still sounds like a bad ground issue. How about the ground strap between the cab and the engine?

Clean and tighten all battery terminals and grounds. Particularly look at the pill between the positive cable connection on the pass side battery.

Scrapping Truck -- Parts To Keep?

I know you were being facetious about the nuts and bolts, but factory hardware is somewhat unique and it's a good idea to keep as much of it as you can. Also, trim pieces, grille, headlight doors, rain gutters, glove box, ashtray etc. All those bits that you'll be hunting for later.

6.2L Diesel - swap to J-code intake or not?

Bad as it is to dump an engine's exhaust back into it, the performance difference comes from the injection pump calibration. If it wasn't that, you could just lock out the EGR valve out and experience the magic.

Rear brake seem to be grabbing harder than fronts

I tried reducing wheel cylinder bore diameter when I put the C6P brake system on my Suburban. Didn't make a damn bit of difference until I put a LSPV in the system. Not saying that's the only answer by far. Other people's mileage has varied.
