It was the 30 Amp headlight fuse. I actually figured out what the issue was, a few posts up. I appreciate you trying to help tho!

    Brights pop fuse

Found it. I left all the Guage cluster wires disconnected and pulled the gauges fuse, because I have a set of Digital Dakota gauges I'm installing. The high beam indicator is grouped with those and was shorting against another wire. Separated it, and headlights work!

    Brights pop fuse

So a little more info - the fuse does, in fact, pop when trying tonuse high beams, even if the headlights are disconnected

    Brights pop fuse

Hello. I completed a wiring harness on my 1977 K10, and an now trying to figure out all the little small mistakes and gremlins I made during. I got the fuel pumps handled, but am now having an issue with the headlights. Both headlights are new. The headlight sockets are new, as is the dimmer...

    Steering Column Advice

Sometimes the hinge pins can be removed without the tool. I bought the tool but didn't need it

    Hot contact bolts

Well I found this on O'Reilly https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/dorman-help/dorman-help-horn-contact/mtm0/83230/v/a/3358/automotive-truck-1977-chevrolet-k10-pickup-4wd?q=83230&pos=0 So I have a complete kit, linked above, that I can't use. I'm happy to ship to someone in need for free, or...

    Hot contact bolts

Speaking of, can anyone tell me how these are supposed to go in? The picture with the little white plastic ferrule came in the pack I recently bought The previous kit had a green plastic peice with a tab that locked in, but I broke the green locking peice when I was messing with my steering...

    Rag joint replacement difficulty

Go for the Jeep or Borgner steering shaft replacement, and ditch the rag joint completely

Front indicators alternating when headlights on

Mine does the same, after a complete wiring harness replacement. It's just the way it works

    Ignition won’t turn

This is the one I used, along with a YouTube video, when I rebuilt mine

    Quality replacement steering box

Yeah go with the u joint - getting rid of the rag joint is the whole point

    Lower steering shaft

The whole thing needs to be disassembled, and the poster above is correct- must be pulled out via steering wheel end

    Cracking back into the column

I finished a complete rebuild of my column last year and reinstalled. Everything was working fine, and tested, albeit not while running, to make sure my new shift linkage engaged my Trans properly. Fast forward to today - my wiring harness is finally finished, so I'm trying to start her up, but...

    Craziest antitheft idea yet.

This is how mine is set up. Inhave a Pro Flo 4 system, so I have a kill switch on the line that triggers the fuel pump relay

    Neutral safety switch connector

Another update. I got the tip of a flathead screwdriver red hot and sliced the nub right off. The connector slips on now and works

    Wiring Harness journal

Tracked down the fuel pump issue - I had the 12v wires for the fuel pumps and the senders crossed. Got that fixed up, turned to key on and both pumps now activate, depending on the switch selection. I wasn't planning on it until I could change the oil, but I got impatient and cranked it. It...

    Wiring Harness journal

I ended up drilling holes in the frame, bed and body at 4 points and bolting in 3/8 studs. I ran ground straps to each and then thick battery cables to daisy chain all the grounding points together

    Wiring Harness journal

That's how ive done most of my connections. Wire to wire is all soldered and shrink tuned. Connectoes that were non insulated were crimped, soldered and shrink tubed. I'm hoping I never have another electrical issue for rest of my life. Wait till you see the pictures of the massive grounding...

    Wiring Harness journal

I updated the post on the PF4 forum BTW. Was a dum dum moment on my end, I had a popped fuse

    Wiring Harness journal

I actually did purchase that already, along with the GPS speedo module and the shift indicator module. It's all been sitting in a box here in my office for months now, waiting for the rewire to finish

    Wiring Harness journal

Back with another update. Almost exactly a year to the day after I started - (I know, I dragged ass. Not knowing what I'm doing, plus 110 degree summers with no shade, plus stopping midway through to completely rebuild my steering column all contributed) - I finally got the battery dropped back...

How is everyone making their wiring look not a mess under the hood.?

I'm STILL in the middle of a complete wiring harness, going on better part of a year now. BUT, I did buy Painless' looming as well. It's a pain to install, but looks great and keeps the wiring protected

    Firewall Steering Column grommet

If it makes you feel any better, I had to tear mine down and reassemble probably 5 or 6 times till I had it right. On top of that, I collapsed my shaft trying to beat it into place, so then had to tack weld the shafts together. I used the same lower bearing you did
