I installed the TCI four link in my garage by myself with very little issues and very happy with the results. At first I was wondering/concerned about the diagonal pan hard bar but after driving it have changed my opinion that it works fine. The ride is better than stock and I have not played...
I have had my GMC since new and every once in a while it will wipe the window once. I know that nothing has been replaced and have just written it off as the intermittent wiper farting. Only a problem if you have driven through a bunch of bugs it does the mush on your window when you don’t want...
I bought the Dirty Dingo cross member about a year and a half ago and I see they have done an upgrade by making the mount adjustable. I had to make a spacer to get the trans angle right. I like the newer adjustable one.
Malibu Monte Carlo headers fit nice but you need to alter or replace the cross member to clear the exhaust pipe on the passenger side. Tucks up real nice.
I removed hundreds of these caps back in the day. Remove carb turn over use a hack saw and make short cuts below caps and then use the corner of a small chisel to drive the cap out. It is hard to believe that you can find a carb in this day that still has them. I never found one that didn’t...
This is the original 1981 in my GMC Sierra Classic 1500.
Anybody have any ideas or know a way to restore them? I have scrubbed them a few times with soap and water they look better but...........
I added the second snorkel using as many stock parts that I could pull at the wreckers. The punch out was there on the drivers side just had to knock it out then install the blocker thingy into the rad support. I believe it was a wheel bearing cap that I used to block the heat tube under that...
After sitting for years I had brake calipers that couldn’t release. Step by step working through the hydraulic system by cracking open the bleeder and then back down the line I determined it to be the hoses. Replaced and worked fine but then also changed calipers. I cut the old brake hoses and...
The knockout was in the rad support on the drivers side so got all the parts from the right side at a wrecker and built a factory looking dual snorkel. It all looks stock.
I also did not get anything like that when I bought my truck. Lol I still have the wheel and tire mounted that came on it. Don’t think I would run it very far today.lol
I used Malibu (70’s) long tube headers on my 81 they fit perfect and clear everything but the trans crossmember gets in the way of the exhaust. I used an aftermarket crossmember to give the clearance needed. They tuck up real nice perfect for lowered trucks.
It will be a future collector truck store it away for 30 years and then take it to Barrett Jackson, OR just drive and enjoy it knowing not every street has a bunch of them. Enjoy.
You might find a lot of philips screws in your GM truck have been rounded out or your screw driver slips while you are removing or tightening them. That is because they are not Philips they are Posidrive. It is easy to spot because of the little dots between the x on the screw (see photo) if you...
Everybody has one of these laying around, tennis ball cut a slice in it and stick it over the safety latch hook you know the one if you have ever done some motor work on your square. Cheap and works well.
Use snapping pliers (flat ones are the best) that push out as you squeeze in the part that is stuck in the socket. Squeeze push in slightly turn counter clockwise and pull.
Quadrajets can be a good street performance carb it’s just hard to get the tuning jets. I spent years collecting my assortment. A lot of guys don’t know they come in 750cfm and 800cfm which can be hard to find. Guys running in the NHRA Stock class have got the tuning down and there Chevys make...
