Steering Wheel Too Close '84 C-10

I’m a small guy but with new seat foam the factory wheel with 3-4” of dish was way too close. This is a Grant 1916, it’s 13” and basically flat. I’m still looking locally for a tilt wheel.

    85 vent windows

I had intended to have those pieces powder coated black when I had my wing windows all disassembled. But time constraints got in the way and I sprayed them with Rustoleum black… we’ll see how well it holds up.

Replacing a single frame rail, can it be done?

I’d suggest fabbing up a jig to hold the frame if you want it to be as best as possible.

    Replacing K20 fuel tank

I had new tanks & straps, even with no cab or bed it still took a ratchet strap to get everything lined up and the bolts started.

What have you done to your square lately??

I learned about Penetrol from a childhood friends father who refinished antique wooden furniture. He could lay down a slick hand painted coat of paint and there wouldn’t be a single brush stroke. I used it in the frame paint on my truck.

I used Hooker manifolds and stock dual exhaust, with the Turbo mufflers that aren’t aggressive.

    Would these shocks be good?

Do you have a local spring/suspension shop? Drag those beat up springs down there and have them work or replace them as needed. Get those right before addressing shocks…

Is anyone having any luck buying a vehicle from Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace right now?

I buy and sell very occasionally on FB MP and always check the profile as much as possible. Just sold a beautiful Martin guitar on MP last week, it went super easy.

    NP203 leaking. Replace or fix?

Yes, to use your existing trans & adapter you definitely need to stay with the same spline count.

    1984 3 speed transmission

Those truck Saginaw 3sps were very desirable way back when circle track racing. A bunch of different version/gear ratios. If I remember correctly we’d pull the cover and count some teeth, we wanted a 1:68 second gear?

How to properly remove a cab without damage

The cab is front heavy anyway, with the fenders on it it’s really gonna be tough. I’d disassemble the dog house if you can. I used the rear seat belt holes in the floor and the upper fender holes in the cab at the windshield to lift mine with the two post lift arms. Had to take one set of arms...

You’ll have to experiment with what’s available to you… it will probably be expensive and frustrating… and in the end you’ll have way more time and energy involved than it’s worth… just my opinion. Try here to start...

    General Spring of KC

There’s an old spring shop here in Louisville that I’ve depended on for years. They’ll build up leaf springs, change the arch, make Ubolts from stock right there in the shop.. depending on how busy they are, while you wait. They do all the heavy truck work for the city. The place is old, a huge...
