Am I Cursed by the Carburetor Gods? Or do I just suck with Carburetors?

A flame coming out of the tailpipe suggests an ignition problem. I know that you are positive that it's the carb, but 3-4 carbs and it still has an issue? Have you checked the timing and firing order? Does your engine use an EGR system?

What have you done to your square lately??

I pulled the rusted grill and used rust treatment on it and the area behind it. Painted it a steel gray color and reinstalled. Also installed a chrome hubcap that's been off the right rear wheel for years. Might have to replace the other three now. Pulled the large sideview mirrors and went with...

My engine used to sound beefier

Hi all, I haven't been on the forum for a couple of years as I purchased a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it's taken all my time and money. It's done so now it's the square body's turn. I pulled the muffler today and clamped in a new one. The engine has quieted down a "little" bit. Next up is...

    Changing from R12 to R134...

The only thing I'd recommend is doubling up on the system cleaner. You'll want to remove as much of the old mineral based oil as possible.

3rd Time Trying to Get Temp Gauge to Read Right - No Luck

Try going to Rockauto's website. You can look up temp senders and find a list of several different manufacturers. There are several to choose from but I recommend the AC Delco OEM part. Partsgeek is another good site.

3rd Time Trying to Get Temp Gauge to Read Right - No Luck

When I first started restoring my 77 my temp gauge didn't work at all. I eventually went to two different name brand stores and bought temp senders but the reading from both was at the 3/4 mark or higher. I finally went into the reference library on this sight and downloaded the service/parts...

    Heater temp lever stuck

My 77 has cable controls and one of mine was stuck. I took pictures of where each arm on the heater box was positioned and then removed the temp control from the dash. I sprayed white lithium lubrication down all the cable sleeves until they slid easily and reinstalled.
