Short box swap? Dirty talk Wednesday ?
So I got a lead on a parts truck that has a short box. My box in the back is rotted at the tailgate hinges, and I smoked the tailgate years ago doing a burn out with a cast iron radiator in the back. lol. I have a 87 v10 short box. Would different shocks make a difference?

Just performed this swap with lots of help from the folks here. 85 donor motor, installed tbi heads and the tbi from my toasted 87 motor after trip to machine shop. Very happy. Worked the truck yesterday, runs like a swiss watch. Eric- waterpirate

Swap body instead of engine, tranny, front and rear ends etc...
Swapping a body onto another frame is a real pain, switching manufacturers can be even worse. There are plenty of cummins fans doing motor only swaps, and plenty of solid advise and parts lists, kits. I would stuff the motor you want into the truck you want and be happy. Thanx for the replies and the snark. Moot subject, I should have updated the thread. I scored a pair of oem rust free fenders from a salvage yard in northeast MD on Saturday. The only bitch is the yard monkey dented one taking it off, cause he would not " smoke wrench " the front bumper off...- waterpirate

So everybody and there brother is selling patch panels for the 87 for the rear section of the front fenders. No body has the front lower section for the 87. Is the lower front fender section for the earlier trucks the same below the marker light? Any help or point in the right direction is...- waterpirate

I will third the temp sensor pain. Easy to check. If you pull the wire to the sensor the ecm will go to limp home mode. I would pull the wire and see what changes if anything. Eric- waterpirate

Painting Intake
I did not use any primer, GASP! I spent a lot of time cleaning, seriously a lot. Then sanded/polished the metal to smooth prior to applying paint. Preperation. Eric- waterpirate
