LMC truck has the wrong window regulator rollers....

Then I cut off that stem. Tack welded all 3 of them, making one tack on each roller until there were 3 tacks. Helped keep the stem cooler too so I did not melt any plastic. Had the welder turned down a bit. Roller now sits where the old one did. Will just spray some black paint on the...

LMC truck has the wrong window regulator rollers....

Well, I did what I said I was going to try and so far it worked! Ground off the head of the old one, back side is bare steel so easy to remember which way to put it back together! After punching out, I used a 9/32" drill bit, this left a snug fit for the roller to be punched into. I put a...

LMC truck has the wrong window regulator rollers....

The height of them is still different though, that would make the roller further away from the arm than the stock roller, but if it works that's good! So here is what I was thinking today as I was messing with these once again. The rollers will sit at the same height IF I drill the hole out...

Q-Jet is rebuilt, but has a bit of seeping/leak on top of carb..??

Got an update. The carter pump worked awesome, well worth the few extra bucks for it. I bought it from Napa so in case I had issues again I can easily return it. As for the carb, I set the float to 3/16" below the deck however (shame on me) I measured it closer to the needle/seat area which...

Q-Jet is rebuilt, but has a bit of seeping/leak on top of carb..??

That's a bummer. I hope this carter does the trick, plan to install either tonight or tomorrow. For the fire up and tuning of this truck so far I have ran 91 non-oxy fuel, but the cost is crazy so when I drive it I plan to run 87 in it. I hope this pump works, really sick of working on this...

Q-Jet is rebuilt, but has a bit of seeping/leak on top of carb..??

Oh man, this Old's has really come to life, check out my build thread for some video's of it running and I also mention the "test drive" I just had to do....she has some pep! Can't wait to get it on the road. I will get that float lowered a bit more! Overhaul kit, that came from Napa, and the...

Q-Jet is rebuilt, but has a bit of seeping/leak on top of carb..??

I will do that! The setting was suggested at 1/16" below deck of carb, but watching a video from one of them there car show/tech videos they said to set at 1/8" so I did. I will set the float a bit lower and see what happens. Fuel pressure, it is a mechanical pump (Carter brand/Napa...

99 GMC Sierra Classic (old body style)---What distributor do you suggest?

So, the problem with the truck so far has been resolved!!! (Issue being misfire/popping/backfiring/no power/jerking). I put in this new distributor from Amazon due to the aluminum body, and the good reviews; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0761SV1BK/ The truck unfortunately still acted up (still...

Q-Jet is rebuilt, but has a bit of seeping/leak on top of carb..??

Gent's, I have a little issue here that I cannot seem to figure out! My dad re-built the carb for this 455 in my truck, and it works great and performs well. However, there is a bit of a leak here at the top. This carb was tore down to nothing, everything checked/cleaned/blown out, float set...

Very tempted! Beautiful 77 Suburban 454 2wd for sale!

@shiftpro Yes, my dually is a crew-cabber, and it is one of them there rare "money pit" kinda ones :Big Laugh: So technically I do not need a Suburban for the family. We already have an '01 3/4 ton we drive all year around. Something like this brown Suburban would be "on occasion" or used for...

Advice on GM 14 Bolt Corporate Full Float w/3.73 gears that are junk

I talked to a few other mechanics about this issue I shared with you guys, and I have the same opinion at this point that they do......clean up axle tubes & inside of axle, replace the pitted bearings, bad seals, clean up the grooves on the spider shaft, and just put the thing back together...

Advice on GM 14 Bolt Corporate Full Float w/3.73 gears that are junk

@bucket I don't have any pics here on my PC at work, however in my thread there is a couple pics, not really good ones though. You can see the pitting on the ring gear somewhat, and the shiny on the pinion...

Advice on GM 14 Bolt Corporate Full Float w/3.73 gears that are junk

Hi all, so now I am at the point that all my gears are shot in the rear-end of my truck. The dilemma is I am trying to save money here, and this damned truck project is starting to really get a bit expensive. So now comes the part I need all new gears in the rear-end (it started with a leaking...

MY 1976 GMC ROYAL SIERRA 15 SHORT BED WITH A 454 SPRIT OF 76

Yup! You are right, after I saw your message here I Googled 74 Nova and it was certainly a 74......76 was ugly, he did not have a 76 (sorry if you like 76 Nova's....I think they are ugly). ;)
