    Big O

Welcome, nice truck! I will be honest, I wish I could find my dads 78 Suburban he had....but, a guy has to do what a guy has to do.

    Hey guys newb here.

Welcome from one Justin to another Justin :favorites37: You should be able to find a C10! I too like the round lights, and to go one further I like 78 and prior just due to the separate front signals from the headlight bezel. All of them are cool no matter what though! Welcome!

What have you done to your square lately??

Mine is put away for the season.....well, kind of. It is still in my shop, just pushed up against the wall now surrounded by vintage snowmobiles. I did keep the engine in its own spot so I can wrench on that this winter.

Talk me out of buying a more reliable car please!!!

Is this the 78 C20 listed in your avatar picture you are speaking about? You stated looking for a car, so here is my personal opinion: If you want a full size car, find yourself a 2000 to 2005 Chevrolet Impala. One with a 3.4 v6 will be around 28 mpg. One with a 3.8 v6 will be around 24 mpg...

    Questionable Engineering

Isn't that truth AG!!!!! You just shake your head and wonder why they couldn't have made it simple too.

    Questionable Engineering

Haha, now thats funny! I have called myself a dummy many times! But hey, I learn best from real experiences including my mistakes I have made!

    Questionable Engineering

I feel your pain!!! I sometimes think these engineers get what skills they have from a book and not real life experiences. I do a lot of design/engineering at work, and it blows me away what people think is a good idea or even manufacturable for that matter! When I design items, and some that...

    Rescued another one!

Even with the issues you mention, I still say VERY nice score on rescuing another square!!! In all honesty, the mechanical stuff doesn't sound too bad, might take a few dollars and some time. As for the engine being blown, I would be very curious about that because those 350's are pretty stout...

What have you done to your square lately??

Here are a few more. Here is the original guard....I did not have the other one. So I made one from some scrap steel I had sitting around...

What have you done to your square lately??

Sorry for derailing the square thread further.... Very cool! I like both of those Cubs too, isn't the 147 a wide frame and 127 the narrow? I didn't google it...going from what I can remember. Get that engine in that old girl and fire it up!! I will take my old cub over any new tinfoil big box...

What have you done to your square lately??

Hey bucket, that is a ’74 or ’75 Cub 149 Hydro wide frame. She is mostly for my heavy work around the yard (I have around a 2,000 lb packing wheel) and I also plow snow with it, and last year I modified my QA-42 snow thrower for it (restored the thrower a few years back and I was not happy with...

What have you done to your square lately??

Believe it or not, I have been working on the square :headbang: Heck, even tonight my wife sat in it on the back bench seat and said "this is going to be a sweet ride, I cannot wait to cruise in it"....so I think she is a keeper :Big Laugh: I put the tailgate on last week, and holy balls, the...

8 bolt rims that are 16" & will fit hubcaps.....??

You and me both!! It was just my luck that I end up with something weird. It was advertised as a 76 or 77 Chevy truck, had a chevy grill, horn button, but said Sierra Grande on the passengers side dash. When I was looking it over to buy it however I fell in love with the big thing and bought it...

8 bolt rims that are 16" & will fit hubcaps.....??

Ok, I am gunna hijack my own thread now, you got me on a roll.... :favorites37: Sweet, a 72 Panther 440!! That is ONE of my Cat's. In fact, I have my grandmothers all original 72 Cat Panther 340 also that she bought new in 72. Here is a picture. On the left is my dad's 71 Polaris TX 300 he...

How easily should you be able to turn over SBC with plugs in

Ok I get it now :D Any engine with a breaker bar or a large ratchet I have turned over has been fairly easy to do. With my flathead V8 I just grab the fan and it turns with little effort. On my Vortec depending on which direction I went I may have to push on the belt a little to keep the...

How easily should you be able to turn over SBC with plugs in

What is it you are trying to do? You mention removing a pulley in the past, and also finding a compression tester? You trying to do a compression test on a cylinder? If you are just trying to turn it over by hand, it should go fine. I have done it before. On my 5.7 Vortec I was able to use a...

8 bolt rims that are 16" & will fit hubcaps.....??

I think it is a cool conversion, and I do NOT plan on big pulling beyond our camper....if that, just because now that it is lowered the receiver is very close to the ground, which could be changed easily enough. As for the Trail Cat, man that is awfully new for me! I collect late 60's and...

8 bolt rims that are 16" & will fit hubcaps.....??

That I am not sure of. Some here speculated it could have at one time been a 1 ton single rear, and had a dually kit put on. I am not sure however? If these GM trucks are anything like the vintage snowmobile world (another hobby of mine), I could see it coming from the factory like that too, but...

8 bolt rims that are 16" & will fit hubcaps.....??

This dually in particular does not have those style hubs, and did not have the dogdish style rims in rear, nor up front. The front has regular big rotors and clip on style caliper, and regular rims. The rearend is not a dana 60, it is the 14 bolt corporate rearend. The rear rims are regular...

8 bolt rims that are 16" & will fit hubcaps.....??

I did do some craiglist surfing, and found some further away with tires which I don't need so I could try to work some deals. First (which I did not think about until now) I have made a few calls to some local junkyards to see if they have anything like this.

8 bolt rims that are 16" & will fit hubcaps.....??

I might have to contact him, I would need 2 more. Maybe he would remove the tires and sell the rims for cheaper as I would rather not dispose the tires. I am probably 45 minutes to an hour from Minneapolis, not a problem there! I am in a tiny town called West Concord, MN that is west/northwest...
