    I had a CUCV Blazer and added a Vintage system. I sound deadened and insulated the crap out of it. It was not as cool as I would have liked in the front and poor in the back. I would think a burb needs f&r a/c.

    I had to explain to an engineer friend of mine the relation to pressure and volume when he launched his SBC. Your engine probably sucked up a bit of air when most of the oil went up the pushrods and hung around the lifter valley & valve cover. Make sure you don't have the nylon type timing gear...

    Leaf spring rebuild help...

    I just changed a top leaf on a K3500 C&C with 9 leafs. The top leaf for a 1/2 ton 2WD might have a different center and length. I sold the truck, so I can't measure for you. I used the catalog from https://www.generalspringkc.com/ for measurements.

    Driveline vibration

    Get the rear wheels off the ground and run it, if the vibration is still there, remove the wheels & run it. If the shakes go away, it's the tires or wheels. Remove the driveshaft, if the vibration goes away there's your problem. Start from the rear disconnecting components to isolate the vibration.

    I started left foot braking in the early to mid 70's. I worked in a body shop and it was pounded into my head to always start a vehicle with the left foot on the brake. There was no telling what the accident messed up and the vehicle could start in gear.

    If you already have the I6, measure the motor mount to bell housing distance, that will tell you if the crossmember needs to move.

    If you're talking about the spring clip that kinda holds the locking ring and you need the special tool to make removal easier, try LMC, I think that where mine came from.

    Can you use 1/2 ton springs and re-drill the hubs for 5 lug wheels?

    Anything under the dash melted? Maybe try a salvage yard or bite the bullet for a "Painless" solution.

    Eric, will you be swapping the front axle also to have 8 lug rims all around? Does the front axle already have 4.10's? If necessary can you do the cutting & welding yourself? Just more things to consider for the "free" axle. Brandon 2024!

    Looks like there is either a leaking heater core or failed heater box to firewall seal on the passenger side. Rot repairs can be few hundred to several thousands of dollars, depends if you want a show truck or just want to keep your feet dry.

    Might also need to change the brake proportion valve to accommodate rear discs. Free isn't always free.

    I should have been more specific. I was refering to Riley's image of a fuse panel, the spot for the second flasher (missing?) is out of the frame. I also noted that there appears to be wrong amperage fuses in some of the spots. Lack of headlights could also be a faulty floor switch.

    Should there be two flasher relays? One for the blinkers and the second for emergency flashers. When I had dead headlights on my old '84 it turned out to be a bad fusible link near the starter. Does the '79 have a floor mounted high/low beam switch or column switch?

    Is the "downshift" switch hooked up to the gas pedal and tested for power?

    I've thought about using nut-sert, riv-nut or what ever they are called. Before those things were around I JB welded bolts from the inside.

    Check both battery cables and connections at each end. The cables could have hidden corrosion.

    The 4l80e should have a factory stand alone controller, maybe behind the glovebox. I have a '93 w/a mechanical injected 6.5td and a 4l80e, I'd check but it's covered with snow.

    I believe 6.5TD vans and Hummers have a center mount turbo. A body lift kit is needed to use a passenger mount turbo in a squarebody for the down pipe to clear the heater box and firewall/floorpan area.

    Bad grounds or bad switch. Pull the headlight sockets then test the bulbs and sockets for power.

    1985 K20 Temp sending unit location?

    If the t-stat craps out with the sender located on the housing, then the engine can overheat. I have never seen a set of headers that block the sender from being located on the head.
