    Np205

All 85+ GM 205’s are the round pattern, long input like you want but they were only used in 1 tons (but not all 1 tons). 84 and older tcases were figure 8 with a short input.

    Stiff Steering

You state steering parts were replaced, was the Sub aligned afterwards? If so, was that around the time the return to center issue started? I ask because caster directly effects return to center.

    Top end or bottom end?

Ouch! I'd say pull plug wires to locate the noise to a cylinder but that may also set off a lot of codes. Edit: Since the heads were rebuilt, maybe check with the machine shop about any valve adjustment work they may have done.

what these studs for? A friend gave me this axel for my 73 K10 said it came out of a 73 blazer. Mine doesn't have these studs on it. I can't seem find

That looks like a rear axle based on the shock brackets and brake line bracket on the diff cover bolt.

    MSD 6AL fuse?

Here are some pics of the wiring pages from the instruction papers from my (analog) 6AL. I have a 30a fuse on my ignition power wire but only because I powered my ignition and some accessories from an add on fuse panel. If you need an actual wiring diagram, just let me know what distributor...

1977 K30 CREW CAB Frame Crossmember Identification

In addition to @bucket answer, it should be noted that these are not “frame” parts they are cab or floor parts. Body parts like that are more likely to be called supports, gussets, reinforcements, etc as opposed to crossmembers. Body terminology can be tricky when searching.

    harmonic balancer bolt?

    This is incorrect.

    Gears

It should be said out loud that ratios that are high numerically are considered low and conversely ratios that are low numerically are considered high. 3.08 = high 5.13 = low

    Gears

@fnny6770 there is no set ratio with auto or manual transmissions, a 3/4 ton (or 1 ton) could have come with 3.73, 4.10 or 4.56(rare). What actual ratio came in a truck is dependent on the options ordered.

    Intake plenum gaskets

Imo, the mechanic using the term "plenum" for a small block Chevy shows he's not familiar with the motor. He might be good with late model cars that have 2 piece intake manifold set ups that have plenum gaskets but your 400 may be somewhat of a learning experience for him. OR... he doesn't want...

Do 16” wheels fit K30 brakes?

Be sure the offset is correct for the truck. Lately, it seems like there are tons of people having issues with new wheels not fitting these older trucks correctly and most of the time it's related to offset.

    D70HD brake shoe width?

Ok, it’s likely a true GM axle then. Just to say it… the 70HD that’s in the diff webbing is the only useful info. The rear face of the passenger side axle tube will have a 6-7 digit number stamped in it, this is what you would use on the Dana site to decipher the axle. I’d recheck the shoe...

    D70HD brake shoe width?

Did the axle come out of a Chevy dually? I believe the 70HD also came in none GM trucks.

    FRONT DIFF SWAP

If you can find a 78-79 Ford leaf spring axle (D44 or D60) it’s a direct bolt in, anything else will require fabrication.

Sanderson BB8-P headers on a 454 in a crew cab dually

I really appreciate you following through and letting me know but it looks like my appetite was bigger than my budget. I just won an arm wrestling match with my personal CFO for a carburetor so I’m tapped out at the moment, sadly I have to pass. Thanks for letting me know!

Well I accidentally bought a Jeep

Yes to both questions. The Morryde kit was complete, the coolest part is a reinforcement bracket that goes between the roll bar foot and the corner of the tub. Overall the bumpers are great. They have a few chips in the coating (very similar to bed liner) but that’s all and they are about 10...

Well I accidentally bought a Jeep

@chevytech87 those are the exact same bumpers we have. The tire carrier was a pita! The “hinge” doesn’t use any bearings, it is a solid round stock post on the bumper and the carrier has a piece of split tubing that clamps snug on the post (you can see the pinch bolts in your pic). Periodic...

Steering box frame reinforcement weld in plates

@Nasty-LSX I had to clamp and beat mine into submission before it fit good.

Steering box frame reinforcement weld in plates

Then you should buy lottery tickets because there are thousands upon thousands of trucks (I’d bet literally hundreds of thousands) that cracked (stock and modified).

Well I accidentally bought a Jeep

Ours has a 3” lift and 35’s, it looks good and she doesn’t wheel it anymore so it’s fine for driving around. I liked the tire to body gap better with 3” and 33’s but she likes the bigger tires. It rides great and there’s no weird steering or vibrations however the 35’s sucked a lot of power out...

    Header Gaskets

Header flange thickness is directly related to gasket sealing success. Thin flanges can get warped easily, thick flanges seal better for longer. My Sanderson’s have 3/8” flanges and seal great with Permatex Ultra Black.
