My parts truck has auto hubs on the Dana 60!

CUCV’s never got auto hubs, they didn’t get any convenience options that I’m aware of.

    75 full time 4wd th350 and np203 replacement help

It's not hard to build but there's probably a couple of special tools required. Maybe pull the trans and tcase yourself and have a good shop bench build the trans? You'd save a lot of money on labor.

My parts truck has auto hubs on the Dana 60!

Auto hubs for K30's were an option (not standard equipment) for only 3 years, 82-84 or 83-85 (can't remember exactly). If equipped with auto hubs, the truck should have a synchronized np205. The syncro'd 205 is fine unless you want to do a 32 spline front output upgrade, the shift collars, etc...

    75 full time 4wd th350 and np203 replacement help

Which is bad, the trans or tcase? A th350 is one of the cheapest automatics to build.

    Transmission the same?

Yeah, 1 pc vs 2 pc rear main seal flywheels are different. If it’s 84 or older the bellhousing will be similar but no mounting tab for the slave cylinder, other than that they’re the same.

    Transmission the same?

There partial pics but both appear to be sm465 4spds. There are differences in 465’s between 2wd vs 4wd and then between some 4wd versions depending on year and/or tcase. If both are 2wd they should interchange. ‘85+ use a hydraulic clutch set up but the bellhousing interchanges so that’s...

    Manual transmission swap

'84 and older 465/205: the 465 has a male 10 spline tailshaft, the 205 has a male 10 spline input shaft and they are joined but a coupler sleeve. These will have a tall figure 8 bolt pattern adapter. '85+ 465/205 and all 465/208: the 465 will have a long male 32 spline tailshaft, the tcase...

    Frame vin location, reference pics.

My old 80 K10 had frame rail part numbers on both sides in the gas tank areas.

    Frame vin location, reference pics.

That’s frame rail part number with the date on the side. My 87 Blazer frame has a partial VIN on the top of the passenger rail under the front floorboard area.

    Timken Bearings

Definitely get the seals, they’ll almost certainly get bent / torn while removing. Strongly consider getting the cage bearing (part # “sbk1”) inside the inboard end of the spindle, many times they are dry and rusted from water intrusion. You’ll have to remove the spindle from the knuckle to...

Ok... inner and outer bearings and races are different.

    Timken Bearings

What axle are you working on?? My guess is your part numbers are wrong as the 2 bearings are usually different sizes. You’ll need: Inner bearing and race Outer bearing and race Spindle bearing Wheel seal

Nv4500 ‘rattle’ between acceleration and deceleration…

The 4500/208 is almost certainly longer than the original combo so I’d bet you have a rear driveshaft vibration. Get an angle finder and check the ujoint angles.

There used to be a repair fitting sold in the “Help!” (Dorman) product line.

    Dually

The axles look like a 9” in the front and a Land Cruiser axle in the rear. I’d be interested to see how the drop box is mounted, I don’t see any brackets.

    Factory hei distributor and coil

In another thread you said you were using a Howard’s hydraulic roller cam, what’s the peak rpm? An HEI distributor is a fine piece but if you’re hitting higher rpm’s you may want something a little better.

Roller tip vs full roller rocker?

Definitely use them! One of the benefits of a roller cam is the ability to use more aggressive profiles, roller tip rockers may not necessarily be able to keep up. I had the Crane gold rockers on my old 454 with a .600” roller cam, they were great.

Roller tip vs full roller rocker?

The benefit would be less friction and more range of motion before binding. Are they worth it? Yes - if you have a built up motor. If you have a stock motor they would work fine but aren’t really worth it. Also, Crane is/was a great brand. Iirc, the company dried up after being bought by Holley.

That looks like a rear D44 which would not be original in a square body.

Ethanol varnish residue: Carb vs EFI

I put Stabil in the tank of my Blazer, the carb seems to be doing ok even though it sits quite a bit. For small engine stuff I try to use ethanol free gas and if it's something I don't use often (like a generator or pressure washer) I make sure to run it out of gas when I'm done with it.

454 build, which pistons to get to 9:1?

I’m running pistons with a 230cc dome, my machine shop said I should be about 9.4 comp (781 heads).

@Rob red did you finish your install? How is it?

454 build, which pistons to get to 9:1?

Stock pistons typically are 7.9:1 comp, if the money is there I’d bump it up in to the 9’s.
