FB Marketplace find near Austin, Texas: 5 aluminum K10 wheels $50

Those Sarge wheels would look SO COOL on my Crew Cab...but they probably would cost more than I paid for the truck, as rare as they gotta be....

FB Marketplace find near Austin, Texas: 5 aluminum K10 wheels $50

Interesting...N90 is the same RPO code for alloy wheels that was used in the OBS era. Good to see it has some history! Even in a b&w pic that is still a badass looking truck!

    8x165.1 rims on 8x6.5?

The Ford wheels may have a different offset. I was looking at an 8 lug Ford truck today with some of their factory alloys, similar to the "bullet hole" style with rivets around the edges of the wheel center. The Ford full floater axle doesn't have the hub offset that the GM one does, so the hub...

    8x165.1 rims on 8x6.5?

Do you know what the wheels were on? The 8 lug pattern is the same on GM trucks through 2010; after that they went to a wider metric pattern. Ford and Dodge made the change somewhere in that timeframe as well. I know the Hummer H2 factory mags will fit the OBS truck so they'll also fit a square...

I really like the way that center cap looks with the bullet on it. Where did you find those?

FB Marketplace find near Austin, Texas: 5 aluminum K10 wheels $50

Good to know there are different wheels, I will have to look at mine. At one point in time I had a complete set, but I know two of them are on a truck. The other two are supposed to be in the wheel rack....

    1980 C10 Owner

Yes I remember, we had a '79 rental pickup for a few months in summer of '79, for our parts store. We had to replace one of the headlights and that's when we discovered that had changed. IIRC the headlight bezel is a torx T15 and the stainless steel retaining ring on the sealed beams is still...

    8 lug slots...?

I used to have a set of those, new truck takeoffs from a GMT 800 2500 Burb. Was gonna put em on the R2500 Burb and then I needed to sell them. So now I have an 8 lug trucks and no aluminum wheels for it ..and those ten ply load range E tires on steelies are heavy! I have seen several sets at the...

    8 lug slots...?

What have you done to your square lately??

Looks like the third row seat in our '79 Burb. IIRC the various plastic pieces are slightly different shades anyway so it looks okay to my eyes. Then again, that Burb was a bit of a Heinz 57 despite being only 10 years old when we bought it in 1989; had a GM Goodwrench 350 in it and various...

    Nice squarebody on BaT

I think it's undercoating. Overspray on muffler, driveshaft and rear axle. But the interior looks like new, and so do the GM keys on the dealership keychain. Apparently they gave him a second set of GM blanks that were not cut, and a spare set of keys were made on Ilco blanks. Ilco is one of the...

    LTZ Seat Swap

Yup, our '90 had no third row seat. Pulled the carpet out cause someone in it's previous owners had left food and cereal in the cargo area, so we had to evict the ants. Noticed that there were no seat sockets....other 4 square body Burbs all had third row.

    Really tight front brakes!

Maybe the wheel cylinders are sticking... sounds like the rear brakes are heating up which usually means they're sticking. Over adjusted, bad or contaminated linings on the shoes, show lining coming off and jamming the hardware and linkage.... After I replaced the parts on the front of my truck...

    Really tight front brakes!

Yes you want them "tight, but not too tight". I was taught to get the spindle nut snug, then back it off a partial turn, just to line the cotter pin holes up. The nut has several slots but there is probably only one hole in the spindle. I haven't done a set in a few years so I forgot about that...

    Really tight front brakes!

To me that sounds a bit expensive...back when we had a drum/rotor lathe at our parts store I charged $4 each for drums and $8 each for rotors. $3 more per rotor if they were not cleaned out and bearings were still inside the hub. But that was in the 80s....

    Really tight front brakes!

Yup, calipers can stick for this reason too. Best thing is to replace the calipers and hoses; then you know you have clean parts. And on my one ton it did not take too long on either side, even with cleaning up the mounting surfaces so they can be greased with hi temp brake grease. Square body...

    Really tight front brakes!

You got the correct brake pads? Did you have to push the caliper pistons back into their bores to get the pads installed? Usually you'll have to, for them to fit correctly. The pads should just very slightly drag on the rotors; this is for self cleaning purposes. If you have not replaced the...

What new tools have you got lately?

Yes, and the improvement in cordless tools in general. I love being able to get things done quicker at the wrecking yards and on repairs on my own vehicles.
