    Random Service Engine Soon light

Okay, it's 43. "43. Low voltage at electronic spark timing circuit" I wonder, was it loose wire, poor connection or what? I'll monitor if this error will repeat. For reference: Each error, including "error 12" flashes 3x, so it is 12, 12, 12, 43, 43, 43 and back to 3x 12.

    Random Service Engine Soon light

Aha! I could have checked it too quickly. I'll recheck.

    Aquí desde Argentina

Welcome! Your truck is looking good! I understand your struggles with parts, being in EU where classic US trucks are a super rare sight we have to import stuff from US. Fortunately parts in US are not that expensive and availability is amazing, but with shipping, duties and taxes it roughly...

What have you done to your square lately??

New tensioner and idle pulleys. I love how it takes just couple of minutes to get both of them replaced, not even removing fan shroud. Also that they are standardized sizes, not requiring any oversear purchases (that's importing from US for me :) )

    Random Service Engine Soon light

Hi, I've got a CEL or "Service Engine Soon" light today. I've been rolling slowly in traffic when I've blipped the throttle to hear the engine. It downshifted as intended, increased the driver fun factor, but also threw the CEL, no other ill effects. CEL went away after shutting down, checking...

What have you done to your square lately??

I didn't like how dark the interior of Suburban is at night. Actually one of my first mods was to install a rear view mirror with additional lights, but it was not enough. I was planning to install another dome light around middle row to make the interior a bit brighter. But before that I...

What have you done to your square lately??

Mine did that too, it reached a rate of 1 drop every 2 or 3 seconds when cold and parked, but with intentionally depressurized radiator cap so it would not squirt coolant when hot and building pressure. With radiator cap sealed it would lose a liter or two after parking and stop. I believe that...

What have you done to your square lately??

Replaced a water pump and radiator hoses. Didn't care to clean the timing cover more than couple of wipes of brake cleaner soaked rag :D

    Oil pressure sensor 305 / 350

An update: It sits at 15 PSI high or low rpm, cold or hot. Only when hot and idling it drops a little bit to like 12 or so. If I understand operation of oil pump correctly it shouldn't behave like that, higher RPM even on worn out engine should have some effect on pressure. It's like either the...

    Barn doors and door questions

I glued a piece of black insulating foam to cover that hole, looks similar to that foam backing. Also got a replacement door striker from LMC. My weather stripping is definitely not original to the truck. Actually I wonder now why my burb has no door moldings and not even holes for screws, was...

    Oil pressure sensor 305 / 350

Interesting... So what did I replace? At around 3:10 mark you can see what have I replaced, it looks slightly different... I don't have an old style metal can sending unit attached to the oil filter base.

    Oil pressure sensor 305 / 350

Yes, I checked gauges couple of months ago. With my old sensor irmt was at 30 psi all the time. Also with sensor unplugged or new one plugged but not grounded it pegged over 60

    Oil pressure sensor 305 / 350

Looks like 15 psi exact. If I understand correct how the oil pressure switch works vs oil sending unit a switchused with gauges should peg the gauge at over 60 psi when there is an oil pressure. I got this one: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=44314&cc=1301465&pt=4588

    Oil pressure sensor 305 / 350

I found online sockets that are stepped to both 1" and 1"1/16, but not to both 1"1/16 and 1"3/16. Anyway doesn't matter as I finally managed to get the old one loose with small vice grips under distributor. Now my gauge shows zero at engine off and... 15 psi either long cranking or cold idle...

    Oil pressure sensor 305 / 350

Is there a way to remove that 3 prong sensor of a 350 TBI without removing distributor? EDIT: Just found out that dedicated sockets exist for these sensors, my sensor seems to measure about 30 mm, looks like possibly 1 3/16 in (that's about 29 mm), but my new sensor is smaller, measuring about...

    Water pump questions

Bumping the thread. I have a factory shroud. What's the procedure on water pump removal, or more precisely on fan removal? Looks like to get the fan out I need to remove shroud, but to remove shroud there should be no fan in the way :D What's the correct way of doing it without poking a hole in...

Beware- LMC Blazer seat upholstery/foam mismatch

I guess you could get a refund from LMC as it appears as their error in listing, but the stripped frames are your loss :( I guess an upholsterer could replace the integrated foam with new custom foam, but that would not be very cost effective.

    Door skins delaminating

Look what I've found yesterday, this seam appears when I lift the door. My passenger door is sagging a tiny bit, I was replacing a hinge pin and a worn door striker when I've noticed it. This explains why this door had so much flex in outer door skin when I was using door handle. Also the whole...

    Show your daily driver

That rusty, filty thing which I love for being so versatile, but also hate for how annoying it is to work under the hood of that thing. 2004 WRX Wagon, slightly modded, with mix of performance and off road mods, lifted, with skid plate, shorter and tighter diffs, but with stiff sway bars, better...

    How to flash high beams?

Thank you Matt, I read that linked article and it looks like it basically meant to be a feature like this, but they simply didn't install it! I recall that the 3-wire connector on a steering column looked like it could take one more wire. Is the dimmer switch independent from wipers and cruise...

    Cab light question

Yes, just pay attention to length of the overall bulb. If it doesn't work simply rotate it as they are polarized. I recommend going with warm white LED's, which doesn't make the interior look pale blue. That's what I have and the light looks like from regular bulb. Avoid "CANBUS" type LEDs...

Headlights on= No Turns, Headlights off= Turns

I'd first start checking grounds. That half lit lights indicate that some bulbs get connected in series. Something strange is happening before the circuit even reaches your taillamps. Flashers and brake lights should be separated until you either use a turn signal or turn on hazard lights. In...

    How to flash high beams?

Thanks, that confirms what I understood from shcematic, however I had hopes that there is a separate circuit responsible just for that which I couldn't find. There is one "headlights" wire coming from the light switch to the dimmer, so when headlights are off there is no power coming to the...

    How to flash high beams?

I'm installing DRLs and I've realized that I have no idea how to flash high beams with headlights off. With headlights on pulling on the stalk works but I believe every time I pulled it hard enough to switch to high beams and had to switch back, instead of actually flashing them. I'm looking at...

    Cab light question

Those "ears" doesn't matter, you can replace the ones that have "ears" and flat ends with some stiching out wire with the ones that have no "ears" and pointy ends. Wattage is also not that critical, you won't get a bulb that has more than 10 W. Just make sure that the length is fine
