    Ls swap mounting issue

No distributor on LS, they’re fired by coil packs mounted to the valve cover

Trying to remove plastic knob on side vent

I couldn’t find a great picture but The plastic rod hooks to a “u” shaped rod that slips through 2 holes in the vent flapper. Can’t remember for the life of me what the clip looks like. The whole assembly isn’t too bad to remove from the cab, the upper screws are a little tough to get at and...

    Ls swap mounting issue

Dipstick tube should be able to move a bit, just bend the tab where it’s bolted to the bell housing

Just picked up an LT4 swapped '86 C10

Also… at $17K from Summit probably cheaper than what the original goes for

Surface rust. What are the best practices?

not sure on the bed… The stuff in the cab I would knock any loose stuff off and epoxy or encapsulate. A D/A with 220 should make light work of it. The hood latch should be in the grille on a ‘74, right in the center at the top. Based on the amount of light rust you should definitely make...

Just picked up an LT4 swapped '86 C10

I automatically assumed he was talking about the new 640hp LT4 from the C7 Vette. Second highest hp motor GM has put in a production vehicle ETA: The newest GM engines are considered “LT” instead of LS. Basically same platform but slight differences and LT generation engines are direct...

    Father / Son project K10

:welcome: Welcome and cool project! One piece of advice, as I am coming to the end of a 3 year restoration (also a father son project) is do not throw anything away until you are 100% certain you are long past reassembly of that portion of the truck. Even if you bought replacements, upgrades...

    Rebuild or Swap?

^^^^ This is a great option on a budget. I re-ringed and put bearings in the 350 that came out of my moms ‘83 K5, it probably had about 150k miles when I took it over. I beat on it for another 150k before retiring it in ‘07. It was still a decent running motor. If you have money burning a...

4x4 wire for dakota digital guages

Yup, the white wire from transfer case provides a ground signal when in 4x4, so long as the black wire from the transfer case is grounded. You can test with a multi meter to be sure. In mine I abandoned the pink wire, it was a constant hot jumper from the fuse panel to the indicator lamp in...

    kick panel speaker housings

I’ll look for some more pictures…. 8’s would be pretty difficult to fit. The 6.5’s are pretty tight as is. Maybe in the area where the fresh air vents are could accommodate an 8” but you would need to fab some custom trim to make that work.

    kick panel speaker housings

This is gonna be an unpopular option... I cut my kick panels (in 1997) and mounted speakers directly to the kick panel itself. My original speakers (Rockford Fosgate Fanatic P's" were 'just' a little too deep for the space so I ran 1" spacer rings. During my restoration I kept the speaker...

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

I’m with @Goldie Driver , repair the stock A/C system. Sure it’s broken now however it is 37 years old, I doubt the vintage air systems would hold up to the abuse the GM system has seen. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the vintage air stuff and that’s what I put in my build but I didn’t start...

    LT1 Swap Vendorss?

There’s a fella on the interwebs known as Lextech who can reflash the “0411” GM PCM to run a 96-99 Vortec replacing the Black box pcm’s that came in those trucks. He also has the re-pin guide he sells for the swap. I’m not sure if he can do the LT PCM swap, I looked and can’t find his info...

    Powered sub placement

Hard to tell in the pictures…. If it sits lower than or equal to the raised sections on the sides it should clear no problem. I had a pretty large amp sitting on top of the raised portion at one time and it cleared. The first picture looks the most promising to me.

What locker shall I go for?

If primarily being used on the farm a Detroit may be a good choice Really? I didn’t search for any but I’d bet there are numerous selectable lockers for the 14 bolt, they are widely popular in the rock crawling crowd. I’d assume there is tons of aftermarket support in this area. That said...

    Pollack Tank Selector Valve

IIRC If you hit one pump with power and power up the wrong wire at the switch it will do what you are describing. It’s been 2 years since I had this problem

    Pollack Tank Selector Valve

IIRC, I crossed up these two splices somehow (on “D” and “E”)

    Pollack Tank Selector Valve

I’ve seen this… Trying to remember here, but if the wiring isn’t right the return will dump to the wrong tank and the pump will squall loudly. We did it when I was doing my ****** valve and EFI conversion

What locker shall I go for?

What do you intend to do with the truck, and what are you expecting to gain from the locking differential? There are lots of options out there, also some give and take from one style locker to another.

    12v Swap Into 87 C30

There are a few different input shafts for the 208…. I can’t remember which was which though. You may also be able to swap the input shaft from a 241 into a 208, those two TC’s are nearly identical inside
