    1981-87 Chrome body side molding

I am restoring my V3500 and it had the black trim. One bed corner was missing. I found two NOS ones on eBay. If you need the part numbers let me know. The black trim, last I checked, was available on a roll.

Rear oil pan seals too long?

We can argue this all day long. I don't mind paying extra for local but 2-3 times as much for the same exact thing? I realize retail stores have more overhead than warehouse only operations. Amazon owns their inventory but the sellers that chose to use the "fulfilled by Amazon" option send...

Rear oil pan seals too long?

Amazon or Rock Auto. Local parts stores can't come close on price. Typically take the Rock Auto price and double it. This is for the exact same part by the same vendor. I know they have buildings to upkeep, etc but so does Rock and Amazon. I rarely buy parts in a store anymore. I bought some...

    Need a breather for my 1987 7.4L "N", ideas?

It does not have to look exactly factory but I don't want it to look ghetto. Since it crosses the throttle cable and cruise linkage I need it to be solid. These are great ideas. Does PEX come in 1/2" OD?

    Need a breather for my 1987 7.4L "N", ideas?

There are no yards where you can pull parts off anymore. Not near me. They are all dismantlers. The strip them and get rid of the carcass. I probably will do what was suggested. Bend something out of steel. Just was wondering what others have done in this situation.

    Need a breather for my 1987 7.4L "N", ideas?

I am restoring my 1987 V3500 with 7.4L TBI engine. The breather pipe disintegrated into a pile of plastic. GM discontinued part #14103133. I am keeping this truck stock so I don't want so goofy looking Mr. Gasket breather. I just need ideas to make something that looks decent and fits the...

Bad alternator - not carging at idle

Before you go tossing parts at it make sure it is not as simple as a voltage drop due to a bad ground or extra resistance in the wires. While running at idle turn on all the consumers. Set your voltmeter to DC volts. Measure from the battery negative terminal and the case of the alternator...

Question on the Comparison of a New, Quality Rag Joint to U-joint Coupler

I decided to stick with my rag joint. The resto shop owner where my truck is now put one in his Ford pickup he restored. He said he hated the vibration he felt and he went back to a rag joint.

Th350 not spinning the speedo cable

There is a gear on the output shaft called the drive gear. Then the speedo gear housing goes into the side and the gear in the housing connects to the cable. This gear is called the driven gear. If you are sure the cable is not spinning. You have one of these issues. 1. Drive gear is damaged...

which bench seat is best? 75? 80? 81?

My vote is genuine cowhide leather. Doesn't get dirty like velour, is not as hot or cold as vinyl.

which bench seat is best? 75? 80? 81?

I am currently restoring my truck and am waiting on everything to rebuild my seats. New foam is inbound. For the seat bottom I went with American Cushion Industries ordered from National Part Depot. This company only makes the bottom foam for my year. I have not ordered the backrest foam just...

    To Do List - Advice?

A transmission fluid and filter change is a good idea. Do not waste money on the crappy auto parts store cork or paper gaskets. They will leak. Spend the money on a lubeLocker gasket. When the pan is off take a ball peen hammer to each bolt hole and bend the hole flat or a tiny bit toward the...

Help needed getting seals/o-rings for driven gear housing

In the housing that goes into the transmission, there is an o-ring around the outside. Replace that and just wet it with some oil. No sealer is needed . Putting some one just makes a mess. Inside that same housing is a tiny little lip seal. These leak and will cause fluid to come out of the...

    NP203 leaking. Replace or fix?

For $100 I would grab it. If you need the truck to drive every day then I would rebuilt the $100 unit and swap it out. That will be fastest. If your truck is not a primary vehicle and you can live without it while you work on it. Rebuild the $100 unit first, then do the one in your truck. This...

    NP203 leaking. Replace or fix?

I would take it apart and reseal it. The speedo adapter has a little seal in it. The output seal is most likely leaking due to a grove worn in the flange. You can replace the little speedo seal really easy. The output seal is pretty easy too. You want to get a kit that has a repair sleeve. Super...

    Nylon cam gear years

I just replaced the timing set on my 1987 GMC. I have owned it since 1988. It had nylon teeth on the cam gear.
