    Ball joint

Good warning. Should have qualified if you know they don’t have non metallic bushings.

dose anyone have any good pictures of a 3inch body lift

Doesn’t matter how good the pics are. A 3” body lift will look like ass.

K5 canopy side windows that open?

Your best bet is find parts local. So many squares in this corner of the country. Since you said you’re in WA.

    Front Windshield

I just saw that too. Contemplating putting a new windshield in the ‘77. Free shipping on oversized glass seems like a no brainer. Get a Precision seal and lock strip.

    Aftermarket A/C?

But in reality, even though it would work great, no one will likely want that if you’re building a clean rig (restoring). On the flips side if you get a free-ish RV AC unit (even if it fails it’s easy to swap with another of the 1000s of old used rv air conditioners) and can scavenge most of...

    Aftermarket A/C?

Good point. They make 12V units for RVs too. Same but with a built in inverter I believe. Might be cheaper option. $1000 ish for a 10kbtu unit. Still need a bank of batteries behind it and a really good alternator if going to run it for any length of time between shore power charging the...

    Finally found another Square Body....

Welcome and sounds like a sweet deal you found on a beautiful truck!

    Ball joint

Holy crap! Thanks to you and @idahovette I learned something important today! Never knew these existed. But I’m going to buy one. Have had a wheel bushing on one of the mowers that hasn’t taken grease for several years. I’ve been using the grease everything else and ignore it plan. lol. Plus...

    Ball joint

Can’t say I’ve ever tried that but it’s the only thing I can think of too, to maybe get grease to flow thru. Or possibly, heating the ball joint enough that it boils some old grease out? Would require replacing the boot when it melts. But may work. Realistically, though, if the ball joint is...

    Pinion angle and funky Ubolts

So, is your axle shifted forward or ? The pin ground off the lift blocks? Is your driveshaft too short otherwise?

Ya, sounds like the paint and undercoating gummed up the threads is all.

    Aftermarket A/C?

Might need a power inverter? No, that’s a must. Unless you were going for the hitch carrier mounted generator, super hillbilly version Blazer. Or a massive battery bank. (Either massive size and weight or massive budget if going Li batteries) And a top of the line alternator upgrade and may as...

What have you done to your square lately??

Hahaha right? Ya, I mean I could roll either square at 80mph down the road with ease. But much past 70 they’re both yelling at you! Lol. Maybe quieter mufflers would help… and OD.

What have you done to your square lately??

That’s a really interesting comparison. Aside from the spikes, the relative price of fuel has been basically the same for decades. But my point was, my K20 would use about 250% more fuel than other options for a road trip. And at least 50% more for the C10, both at lower comfortable cruising...

    Intake manifold and stripped bolt

Whoa, he may want to get that bolt back out someday. I can’t see using Loctite in the first place on an intake bolt. Much less with primer. Or if you meant for a helicoil, different story but a helicoil would be my last choice in this instance. Way more work than likely necessary.

    Intake manifold and stripped bolt

@Ron Sebastian All the suggestions for tap larger, helicoil etc are the proper fix. And what I’d do if I was disassembling it. But if you don’t have to, then a simple red neck helicoil (piece or 2 of stranded copper wire in the bolt hole) should allow enough grab to get past the torque spec no...

    Intake manifold and stripped bolt

Gasket maker in a tube doesn’t = clamping force. Not sure how you’d fix a stripped thread with rtv.

What have you done to your square lately??

I haven’t found any product that will “restore” those faded panels. At least not longer than it takes to dry and evaporate. If they haven’t been repainted or dyed (it’s paint even though they call it dye), you can spruce them up semi permanently with a heat gun or torch, carefully. On the blue...

What have you done to your square lately??

But @ approx $0.57/mi for gas in our K20, today’s technology doesn’t seem so bad. To be fair, the C10 could probably pull that same trip off for slightly more than half that much.

K5 Blazer repaint cap body color or white? How to remove fading paint on fiberglass.

Ya I misunderstood. Oh yes, if he gets all the white off and hits it with a polisher he might be able to totally refinish what’s there just by cuttting and polishing. Can’t sand because it’s it smooth as I recall on them toppers.

And yield no real world benefits of re-gel coating vs painting, either single stage or base/clear. But much harder to apply, imo. Unless you’re set up to do gel.

K5 Blazer repaint cap body color or white? How to remove fading paint on fiberglass.

Prep for gel, wet sanding and polishing are 99% the same as paint. The big differences is you need a different setup to spray it, you have to cure it and you fix gouges by squaring up a deep repair and filling with gel vs feathering smooth with paint.

K5 Blazer repaint cap body color or white? How to remove fading paint on fiberglass.

^This too, except you can skip the epoxy primer on the topper if you want because it’s not made of steel. So you could save $50. It’s a great base layer but on that, a good scotchbrite job and an extra coat of basecoat would be fine.

K5 Blazer repaint cap body color or white? How to remove fading paint on fiberglass.

I was gonna say protect the paint on the bedsides but looks like you’re done. That factory paint is pretty soft too. I was also goin to say my preference would be white with that color vehicle but it looks damn good with those 2 colors together. Not sure what you mean by finding paint that...

What would you pay for this truck?

I mean, yeah, and arguably GoMango is louder and probably uglier to some. And Plum Crazy is a good tribute to days gone by. One of these days just for giggles I want to get the General Lee decal kit and put on that car!!
