    Old77’s GMT400 SWB 4x4 5-speed project/DD

I've never wasted time with scrap sheet steel. I've always just let a buddy take it or I just dump it in the scrap pile at work. Now batteries on the other hand... I collect those cores. I'll put each one on a charge cycle and see if it comes back to life. I often wind up with free batteries...

The sloped hood and big windshield must play tricks on you. The 3rd and 4th gen cars actually share a lot of proportions and sizes, other than the front clip and roofline. Front and rear seats both swap between generations. The floor pan is roughly similar and the entire rear suspension is the...

    Old77’s GMT400 SWB 4x4 5-speed project/DD

Imho, it ain't a show rig... just metalwork it a little smoother, grind it and slather some Duraglass on it. Then mudwork it and prime/paint and then pretend nothing ever happened.

Other than winter driving, the 3rd gen F-body was my favorite daily driver. Just pure fun and comfort. I've always thought the 4th gen cars drove about the same, just not as comfortable. I have never been comfortable in a 90's Mustang. Not just because of the Ford thing either, lol.

It pictures well. It has terrible, but shiney original paint and lots of cosmetic body rust. It went on Power Tour last year and we will be leaving in it on Sunday for Power Tour again this year.

Lol, imagine that. Technology that worked well in 1979 still works good now. Who'd a thunk it.

@legopnuematic is "spot-on" Lol, see what I did there  That piece you cut out is a wall hanger for sure. Someone put in WAY too much effort to repair it the wrong way.

Lawn/ Garden tractors/ Riding Mowers, Cool Mods and tinkering

That's not many hours? Iirc, my old 325 has around 1400 hrs on it and I considered that to be low hours. But it's the only lawn tractor I've had with a meter, so I really don't know. It's definitely low hrs for a big tractor though.

    Rear end fluid

The fill plug of most GM diffs is ahead of the carrier. Having just the cover off doesn't aid in the repair of a stripped and seized fill plug.

    Rear end fluid

If you want to check the fluid later, then you either have to pull the cover again, or just bite the bullet and deal with the plug. But if the axle doesn't have any leaks, it really doesn't need checked. Back around 2018 or so, my '00 Burb killed an axle seal and leaked most of the fluid out...

80/90 gear oil. Pick any brand. If you can't get your fill plug out, you can just put the gear oil in ziploc baggies and stuff them in there before you put the cover back on.

What have you done to your square lately??

There's a fella on YouTube that has some videos of applying the Penetrol. Seems like it's good at preserving an existing worn finish and it seems to hold up well. What The Rust? Is the channel name.

    Rear driveshaft for SM 465

It's all going to depend on where you place the engine and if your 465 is what came in the truck. Are you swapping in the engine AND the trans, or just the engine?

Here's the thing though, around here and my surrounding area, I cannot find any old RV's for cheap. Or really at all. I think the wood got soft in them long ago and they have mostly been disposed of already. Travel trailers too. Compared to the newer high dollar stuff, the older stuff just...
