Dashboard "frame" removal 1984 GMC C1500

It ain't gonna bother anyone I don't think. A stock dash can always be put back in. Kurt at Diy4x4 offered a custom, aluminum dash, that may make your life easier. Now with that said, he has recently shifted markets to the race car crowd, but I believe he does still take orders for some of the...

    Good rear gears

Yeah, my old '86 C20 454 Suburban with 3.73 gears cruised the interstate with ease, even at 80mph. It was a fantastic cruiser for out of state trips. I actually would have preferred that it had a 4.10 gear.

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

This past fall, we lost a factory front flare off our '00 Burb on a very breezy day. Apparently there wasn't any fender left for it to attach too. The other side is not far behind.

    Good rear gears

Who told you it was geared too low? If you like how it drives right now, that's all that matters.

Dashboard "frame" removal 1984 GMC C1500

Out of curiosity, why are you removing the dash frame? I ask because usually when someone is removing it, they already have a replacement and know that it is spot welded in. If you aren't replacing it, you are likely creating more work for yourself than you need to.

77 with 241c transfer case. What shifter?

A shifter setup from any np208 truck will work. If you don't feel like hunting down a stock shifter, an aftermarket, cable style shifter is also an option...

Or have both wheels off the ground. If posi, it will also need to be in neutral.

Granger Smith aka Earl Dibbles Jr. father's 74 GMC full restoration videos.

He also does the After MidNite country radio show, and has for several years now. I don't think the guy knows how to just sit still, he definitely isn't short on work ethic.

Will this lift fit my k5/jimmy?

Good point. It shouldn't move as much with the 2.5" though, compared to the 4" that most people use. The spring perch on the axle can also be re drilled to move the axle back some, if needed.

Will this lift fit my k5/jimmy?

Here is the shackle flip kit. It's available in 2.5" and 4" lift. https://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/product/view/id/1757/s/shackle-flip-kits-for-73-91-gm-square-body-trucks/category/487/

Will this lift fit my k5/jimmy?

The ORD shackle flip is designed for both spring lengths, so there's no guesswork on relocating the hangers on the frame for the longer springs. Or other clearance issues that might arise on a K5 or a short bed. The ORD hanger brackets just get used on opposite sides of the truck, depending on...

    Finally got a running 65 C10

I'm sure they had a reason for it, as the exhausts got umbrella seals and the intakes got positive seals. I just don't know what that reason would be. Perhaps the thought was that the umbrella seals let a little more oil past and would help with guide wear on the exhausts?

    Finally got a running 65 C10

Because the kit is designed to fit together and work well with your specific cam and spring combo, for optimum performance and longevity. The valve seals are just oil seals and the cam manufacturers aren't going to know exactly what anyone needs. It largely depends on what work has been done on...

Well I've been wrong many times in the past and I'm sure I'll be wrong many more times. If I could witness someone driving a 420 or 465 like a car type 4 speed can be driven, I'd be all giddy inside and very happy that my opinion was wrong.

What have you done to your square lately??

Dang. 22k isn't very much. I've usually got 50k plus out of every set of MT's that we have run on a Suburban. Always load range E tires though, so maybe that's the difference.

Original bucket seat cover replacements? 1977 truck

There's a few people here with nice early K5's, @WFarm is one of them. I don't remember if the lowback seats had plastic back covers on them or not.

@AuroraGirl none of this useful info is probably going to stick in my mind, so I'll probably be asking you the same question in the future. I've got a couple projects that will be employing a 230/244 and I'll have to wire them in.

Best way to transport 19 55 gallon barrels?

I'd use it on the wood without a second thought. Age won't matter at all in this case, it just needs to penetrate the wood and keep the elements out.
