I appreciate the input....new guys don't really know much about 400 engines and their quirks. I've studied them but am still not the expert other than what I've stated. I appreciate the hands on experience.
Uhhhh ya. Its now out back on my paint table away from her nice Halloween decorated table. But, I am making progress on the radiator support restore....so much fun!
I almost went with a 400 because a block was available from a friend. After researching I found the blocks cylinder walls were "Siamesed" and were susceptible to heat if bored over too much. I read about guys getting quality radiators that can keep that engine cool. You also need to be careful...
Agreed...you dont want to expose this to weather because its applied with a sticky backing. Inside though....its outstanding. Rhino lining is what I use.
Best of luck!!
Check this out on Amazon...it comes in different thicknesses. I bought one small box to test first for $38.00 in 50mil. The stuff is way dense and is amazing.

Does anyone know if there is a more efficient blade design for a clutch fan? I was watching some YouTube about that and there is a definite HP draw on some of the old school fan designs. I have a 7 blade OEM I pulled out yesterday, cleaned up and will go with but before I do Id like to see what...
Ya, rad and in a million parts strung throughout my house. My wife made me take the heater box off the table this weekend. I'm rebuilding that as we speak.....its a tough little cookie to crack but I did it.
Welcome from AZ! I too am rebuilding a K series truck. Mine is a 1978 Chevy Scottsdale 4x4..... K10 half ton. If got it in several pieces and am cleaning about everything I can...bith wire wheel and pressure sprayer. I have a 383 stoker, 4L60e, and an np205 ready to go in. There is soooo much to...
I have the frame support welded on but will be adding this as well. It uses torsion across the mid cross member for support instead of relying on just frame stiffness:

I downloaded that....for reference if that's ok with you Loren. I love the aluminum accents in this truck. Yours looks amazing! I am looking for a guy to do my upholstery now. I have a few designs in my head for the seat but need it to be comfortable yet durable. My Labrador wont let me touch...
Hi DanMcG, I am getting ready to paint my 78 Scottsdale white. I love the way yours looks! Can you tell me ...did you paint that and if so where did you get the paint? I've never painted before and want to try it. Just unsure about the details. I also plan on going to black insides like door...
Make it your own. If you hate it...change it. It will be beautiful when re done. I went from Brown to white here on my Scottsdale in AZ and have not regretted it at all.
Good Morning,
I am looking everywhere for a NP241c with passengers side drop (88-92 Blazer and Suburban). I am in AZ and was wondering if anyone here had one or knew a good resource. Junk yards here, Craigslist and Facebook market show Zero near me.
Hit me up if you do.
Thanks!

I've been researching 700r4's for my 78 Scottsdale 4x4. In one video I saw the gear inside the transmission was worn and was causing a similar issue. I believe its nylon so it can wear out. If Matts advice doesn't pan out I feel GMT830 could be right. The gear inside is shot and will need to be...
Good Morning Squarebody Team,
I finished the teardown of my 78 Scottsdale this weekend to prepare for the new engine and to rebuild the AC and Heating portions of the truck. I was wondering if anyone here had a resource for schematics concerning the vacuum lines that run underneath the...
