6.2 Engine Harness Repair or Replacement?

Well I got everything soldered and heat shrinked. I have a bit of taping and then some cleaning to do. Overall I'm really impressed by how strong of bond soldering provides.

6.2 Engine Harness Repair or Replacement?

Sorry I haven't replied back, my computer is on the fritz and I have to use my phone to check the forum. Ive purchased a Weller and some solder. Just waiting on my helping hands and some friction tape to get here from amazon. I was wondering if it would be better to heat shrink the connection...

6.2 Engine Harness Repair or Replacement?

Tons of info I didn't even think of. I like the staggering idea. Thank you! What kind of solder should I use? I've heard rosin core is good for automotive wiring. Do the connections where two wires have been soldered ever break? Considering this will be in an engine bay it will be hot and there...

6.2 Engine Harness Repair or Replacement?

I was wandering through my local pull and pay when I spotted a 6.2 diesel sitting on the tailgate of a K5 Blazer. I wandered over to it and surprisingly the dash harness and engine harness were still on the vehicle. Rushed out to the car to get my tools and came back to grab the two. The dash...

Now Retro, why would you want to do that? I'm looking at these vehicles and I see potential. I'm in Colorado and anywhere between 25% and 40% of the time mother nature thinks everything should be frozen, and that is just april. I drive my K5 and it does not like to stop on icy roads and I see...

86 cab left over connectors for what??

I was thinking the same thing today, glad you figured it out. I like old tech, its easier to take apart and put back together. It would be a mess trying to figure out one little problem in a modern dash harness. If its not too much trouble I would appreciate the 80-86 wiring schematic...

86 cab left over connectors for what??

Turns out I have the harness, here are some pics. 1st pic. Top Left is the blue/blue/green wire. On my harness it shows the green wire with orange connector on the inside of the firewall, not in the engine compartment. Green connector and brown connector plug into the fuse block. 2nd...

86 cab left over connectors for what??

For the first picture, you said the two connectors come through the firewall. Do they go straight into the fuse block or are they routed through the firewall inside one of those rubber grommets? In the second picture the three pin plug coming through the firewall is for the glow plugs. To the...

Why is everyone trying to cash in on diesels? Yes the burb is nice but not for $8K. The only way I'd pay $7K for that truck is if under that topper there was a big fuel tank that had about $5500 worth of diesel fuel in it.

Maybe the owner doesn't want to fork over the $ for a new transmission. I emailed him about the engine and dash harnesses a couple days ago but didn't hear anything back so who knows.

I know right? Anything with a 6.2 is hard to find and the only ones being parted out are usually in the eastern part of the country. Like this one. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/pts/3761756223.html

I want it too. I've been looking all over for something with 6.2 I can use to add to my blazer. It's priced right but too nice to just gut.
