    Brake Fluid In Cab

Okay cool I''ll probably swap it out this weekend. For some odd reason O'Reilly's has it for 104 while Napa has it for 175..... same part number and everything. Weird.

    Brake Fluid In Cab

The master cylinder was just changed like 3 years ago and hasn't seen much use. I don't need to change that too do I?

    Brake Fluid In Cab

Yeah it is out of the blue. I just replaced the carpet and all and haven't really driven it much. It's been sitting since 2010 with the occasional start up and then last year I drove it around every couple weeks or so. When I moved back in January I drove it about 30 miles and it worked...

    Brake Fluid In Cab

Aight. Why would that happen just out of the blue? The truck has been sitting for a while so I guess maybe the seals got dry rotted or something. Now that I am doing some research it has to be power steering fluid rather than brake fluid in the cab. It was night time so I'll have to go back in...

    Brake Fluid In Cab

Damn, so its not the master cylinder?

    Brake Fluid In Cab

Okay I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I want to get some input. I have a '86 K10 diesel.... and the other day when I drove it around I noticed there was fluid on the brake pedal. I'm thinking it is the rear seal on the master cylinder but I'm not sure. Could it be a bad booster? I'm not...

    What is this?

I know this is an old thread but I figured I would put this up for anyone who has the same problem. I had to buy a proportioning valve as well as mine was rusted out like crazy. Bought one from here: http://www.carolinaclassictrucks.com/brake_valves.html Comes with a warranty too.

Gauge Cluster Teardown and Rebuild - Beware, Pic Heavy!

Here's my gauges.... I have the LEDs from superbrightleds.com and I painted the needles (including the shift indicator) red this weekend. I also blacked out all of the orange except for the "55" which I will probably leave alone. I used model car paint from Hobby Lobby and a really small brush...

    Fuel Gauge

Well, I was wrong. I pulled the gauge out and hooked it up to a 9V battery and guess what? Does the same damn thing. Who woulda thunk it. Lol. SO needless to say I will be visiting the u-pull-it yard to get a new gauge. This truck makes me :Pshyco: :biggun: Lol...

    Temperature Gauge Pegs Out

I ended up putting a mechanical gauge in and re-doing the wiring just FYI. Works great now!

    Fuel Gauge

Okay well I went and bought a new sending unit... it reads 0-90 ohms much smoother than the old one. However.... the gauge still reads the same way. That's why I just took it out of the box and hooked it up rather than putting it in the tank.... now I can go return it lol. Sucks becuase I...

    Fuel Gauge

The sending unit is a bit erratic but at full it read 95 ohms and was close to zero at empty. Reason i thought it was the sending unit and not the gauge is when i grounded out the connections the gauge showed full. That seems like the opposite though... I think im going to go get another...

Gauge Cluster Teardown and Rebuild - Beware, Pic Heavy!

I did a tear down of mine last year. I used the LED lights from superbrightleds.com and while they don't dim, they aren't so bright that they are blinding. I used satin silver to paint the inside of the reflective housing and it works perfect. One of these days I'll get the rest of my pictures...

    Fuel Gauge

The gauge worked just fine when i grounded out the wires at the tank though. That leads me to believe the gauge is fine. All the other gauges work fine too. Im going to take the sendng unit to work tomorrow to test it and see if its reading right.

    Fuel Gauge

Diesel is the same ohm range as gas right? Everything works except when it should read full it reads between 1/2 and 1/4.... however, it does read E when it should. It doesn't go further past E like you would think, so that is why I don't believe it is the gauge. Also, when I ground out the...

    Fuel Gauge

This is weird, but it's the sending unit.... I bought a brand new sending unit too when I replaced the fuel tank. I haven't tried filling it until now since I haven't been driving it, so that is why I am just now finding this out. The wiring is fine and it's not a bad ground. So I guess I'll...

    Fuel Gauge

Okay thanks. I am going to look at the wiring and see if anything is messed up when I get home from work today. I think it's one wire (brown) coming off the sending unit and going into the cab, and another wire (black) going from the ground post of the sending unit to a frame mounted ground...

    Fuel Gauge

This may have been visited before at one point, but I am not very good at using the search function to find specific results. As some of you may remember, I had a similar problem with my temperature gauge. That has since been fixed and is working fine as I changed over to a mechanical gauge...

    A/C Vacuum 6.2 Diesel

Oh I didn't realize that. Thanks for clearing that up. Thanks for the diagram, it does help. I've got to figure out where the vacuum line that conencts to the pump is and pull it through the firewall and then get some sort of splitter for the vacuum pump since right now it's just got a large...

Sorry those pictures suck.... came from my iPhone. I'm going to try to take some pictures with my real camera today. Putting the finishing touches on the interior today.

    A/C Vacuum 6.2 Diesel

Hmm, it shows a vacuum tank on there. Is that the little black circular box? I'll have to find one I guess if that's the case. Any idea where it is supposed to be located? And thanks for the diagrams btw. Very helpful.
