Questions 1 and 2, the answers are yes, they are fine. Number 1 is a PCV valve, should just slide in and out of the valve cover grommet. If you shake it and hear it rattle then it should be fine. The hard questions will need to be answered by someone else. Other than that.....DAAAMMNNN...- jux

Thanks for all your help chengny! The old alt was on it's dying breath so I picked up a reman (ALL wear parts replaced) delco from (gasp) auto zone. 92 amp for $77 after military discount and core return. Runs great now, thanks. On a side note, the first one they gave me had the back plate... -

Thanks Chengny. I realize the job that the battery has is mostly to provide start up power. I did not word it very well, but when I disconnect the battery while running, the power shoots up to 13+ (running only on alt). It stays around 13 when I reconnect it. Would that fit in the diagnosis... -
