    Frame cracked.

As cracked as that is at this point I would just grind and cut it out and weld in a flat piece that has a higher shock mounting point. Like TravisB mentioned, this is probably a result of your shock being too long and bottoming out so doing this would allow you to move the shock mount up some...

K5 rear window motor - Replacement are garbage - Alternative solution

Well, the title of this thread says it all. I think anyone who has tried any of the online or box store replacement units that are currently made for the K5 rear window has found out that they don't work well, if at all. I inspected my jack screw and the regulator. They seem to be in good...

    Looking for a 3/4 ton 14 bolt.

After sleeping on it I am sure that ultimately the difference in Axle widths has nothing to do with the performance, but rather, what was commonly available between the various axles and what known tolerances would fit between the frame rails and the inner sheet metal of the wheel wells.. Makes...

re-gear or axle swap plus re-gear?

I think that many miles out of a auto trans 125K isn't terrible failure rate. I think it sucks to have to try and pay for it, especially considering how easy they really are to rebuild. Even now with the electronic versions they still have a tendency to fail in and around that zone. I think...

re-gear or axle swap plus re-gear?

I'm sure it will transform your ride. I figure if you are 4wd you can always start in the rear and then upgrade the front gears later down the road. Just maybe make sure if someone else drives your rig from time to time either disconnect the Shift linkage or the driveshaft from the transfer case.

    Dead in the water.

I'm just curious what the sound of a bolt falling out is, lol>>> :happy107:

re-gear or axle swap plus re-gear?

To be honest 31's are enough to make it bog down at cruising speed to some degree. The 3.08's were garbage for anything with anything more than a 29 inch tire and a 1.1 final drive ratio like the TH350 and TH400 had. It became even worse when they swapped to the 700R4. I think the problem is...

    Looking for a 3/4 ton 14 bolt.

The narrow rear supposedly helps with the vehicle tracking better but I have know a few fellows that spaced out their wheels to be perfectly aligned and reported nothing weird about their handling but then again I always wonder if these are guys that have worn out suspension anyways so maybe...

    Looking for a 3/4 ton 14 bolt.

Maybe it was 67. To be honest I’ve been avoiding it for a while because I know it’s going to be way different than the front after I do the 8 lug conversion there, lol. I’ll have a front 10 bolt rebuilder out of the truck and my 14 bolt this weekend and can measure them but from what I have...

    Looking for a 3/4 ton 14 bolt.

I think the newer SRW 14 bolts are 62 inches between wheel mounting surfaces. Working off memory and a big dinner so I am all dopey at the moment so my numbers might be fuzzy.

    Looking for a 3/4 ton 14 bolt.

Also going to have disc brakes. Not bad, you will just want to get the right proportioning valve. I can link one later when I get back to my laptop. Got it saved on my amazon Jimmy list, lol. It’s only about 40 bucks.

    Looking for a 3/4 ton 14 bolt.

FYI, on the newer ones there are some advantages but if you want to go the easiest route and are OK with drum brakes you can get an older one but depending on what it comes out of you may or may not need to cut the brackets and weld new ones o and then go get back to 6 lugs you can find an...

    Looking for a 3/4 ton 14 bolt.

A proper 14 bolt full floater is going to be an 8 lug. The 6 lug 14 bolt is a semi-float design, and while still stronger than a 10 or 12 bolt, it is not as strong as the FF 14B, not is it as easy to work on. You can look in 2003 up HD 2500 Silverados and they commonly had 14 bolt 8 lug axles...

    How to tell cabs apart

Ah, yeah I guess once you get up in the frontier vehicle laws may change some. Then again it varies from state to state down furhter south as well. Just figured it was worth observing just in case.

    Transfer case strut/rod

I just swapped to metric bolts and used a 12.9 bolt and flanged nut. It was one of those days where I was already in the metric section and they had the flanged nuts but I could not find any grade 8 flanged nuts, lol. I did a little phone research while there to figure out that technically the...

    Transfer case strut/rod

The spacers on the crossmember go down below the spacer, the bolt heads go down, the nuts go on top of the frame rail (it was originally a flanged type nut (so as to not extend below the flat plane of the crossmember). The working theory is that the spacers combined with longer bolts act as...

    How to tell cabs apart

The better question to ask is does the cab still have the VIN plate where it belongs and then does it have a title if it does? If the dash is gone and so is the VIN plate then move on. The trucks title is tied to the vin and the cab FWIW and if the VIN plate has been removed then you are...

    3/4 front axle

You should be fine so long as you don't start running tires bigger than 35's. Some will say 33's but I think if you are just doing things like 4wd for snow and ice or the occasional muddy crossing a properly geared 10 bolt will perform pretty well but things start breaking when you are using a...

    Damaged block from shipping!

Hit it with a real hammer, a rubber hammer is no way to test welds. The porosity of the cast iron is always what you are going to fight and being an engine block there is no way to get rid of it without cooking the block but you might be able to get in there and cook it with a map torch and not...

    3/4 front axle

I may go that route but the way pickings are now day's it's probably going to be a bare axle off CL of marketplace and chances are they'll be off a truck or something similar. I figure it won't be a huge deal given that I am not going to be doing hardcore of heavy offroading, or running a...

    3/4 front axle

So if I had a spare 10 bolt is it just a matter of buying 30 spline axle and carrier if I were looking to upgrade or is there something different about the older axle housings that won't allow allow for the 30 spline stuff to work (like inner tube clearance)? Just curious. I was looking at...
