Oddball thing happened to my wife's 95 pathfinder. I was at the storage unit putting some stuff away. Christmas eve, starting to snow for the big storm coming in. Engine was idling, heater fan was blowing nice warm air and then: The engine just stopped, fan stopped and it started to snow...- dougbert

Finally got my phone to mount under Windose there is a couple of pics of the oversized 5.3L pistons from Sealed-Power BTW, sold the 4.8L pistons- dougbert

My new pistons showed up today after being back ordered via Jegs Seal-Pro H1132CPA 1.00mm over (.040) great deal at $25.41 each on sale try to get pictures off my phone to post, but failing- dougbert

Down to the crank left. Pistons and con-rods pulled, bearings show no sign of wear. Almost a shame to do this to this 4.8.................naw, I am going to do it. monday will pull the crank out. Now to sell those. Finally came to a conclusion to what pistons I am going to put back in...- dougbert

Further teardown today Only interesting item was one piston had a bunch of dimples, BB size, in the piston and head chamber. Nothing was in the piston, so it seems to have left on its own fairly quickly. In the valve area, things looked very clean. Tomorrow will pull pistons and rods...- dougbert

Back on this project after doing other things Time to dis-assemble the test stand and begin taking the 4.8 apart. We have a 5.3 to re-assemble and put on the test stand, so spent about 3 hours taking the test stand and putting it into tubs. Rather everything for the test stand went into just...- dougbert

One of the early youtube videos I found was a series from Chuck's Garage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wa8Ga3NB0M I learned alot from that one, didn't use all their choices, but helped me understand things dougbert- dougbert

The trans linkage is a problem area I have heard but doable I had dual tanks, but for starting out I just went to one 20 gallon tank on PS. I have read that a mechanism is possible to reinstall the 2nd tank, or even go to the K5 blazer tank under the bed where the spare tire is - don' t...- dougbert

Worked on the test stand engine today and solved some cylinder miss issues, and capture the runs on video Video one https://youtu.be/9_FJWZMjNC0 is the BEFORE video with cyls 1, 3 and 8 missing. I isolated them by removing the spark plug wires of each cyl with a rubber gripped needle-nose...- dougbert

was able to mount radiator again (after some modifications due to the lowering of it support) and attach hoses, etc and fill with fluid. Made sure all was well, fill the mini-tank with gas and fired her up. Nice that there was no longer any coolant flowing out of the WP. Pic of the Camaro WP...- dougbert

My first engine rebuild is in my FJ60 where I took a 1973 4-bolt main 350 and rebuilt it with retro-roller cam, Vortec II heads from GMPP, etc Spent way too much money on it - tuition I call it. Received the tensioner and the thermostat with housing and stopped by the shop and put those on, when I went out today for a short time. I still have a question on belt direction on the water pump from the pictures above. Is the LS3 camero water pump going the same direction as the truck WP...- dougbert

installed the WP today (19256263) pic 1 frontal view pic 2 of spacer with 1/8" NPT hole for steam vent - currently plugged pic 3 looking along front from DS to PS pic 4 too dark, but again DS to PS Note this for the test stand without the PS pump, has an idler on lower right of first pic...- dougbert

nice. but I didn't know about that one. What year LS3 camaro is that? or better, what is the GM part number? I received the 2002 Camaro WP today and installed (yes with the spacers). The belt pulleys all aligned up save for the truck tensioner. Ordered one specific for this water pump which...- dougbert

Received the idler pulley relocation kit. Removed the ALT/PS bracket and cut off the old idler pulley mount and support as per the instructions. then installed the kit and remounted. I have the camaro WP coming tomorrow and will see if that really fits link to ls6 swap article...- dougbert

look at various builds (mine is in my signature as an example - others are on this web site). also read/watch AGearHead4Life on youtube and facebook - lots of good stuff its where I learned. Many others as well on youtube and web sites, like this one dougbert- dougbert
