Ran out of gas, but tank not empty

Careful with the new fuel pump and sending unit you buy. I went through three of the Delphi HP 10255 Hanger Assembly's before I figured out that pump sent out fuel at like 85 PSI which blew out the fuel tank selector valve and over filled the other tank and charcoal evap canister.

Gauge stuck past full (3 O'clock)

AC Delco U7001. Bought one on Rock Auto, one on eBay and two on Amazon. What the hell, all the reviews on Amazon say they are great, fixed the problem. Am I buying the wrong item?

Gauge stuck past full (3 O'clock)

Dropped the gas tank for the umpteenth time to inspect the brand new fuel pump and sending unit, all good. Disconnected each connector between the tanks and the third brand new switching valve. All good. Can only be the switching valve internal, because the right tank fuel level reads correct...

May be getting rid of these shortly. These are Jackman originals, diamonds not spoked though. Never seen another set like them. Heavy steel.

    It's never that easy

Now that I know it, I can't not see it. I don't like knowing it's not square!

    It's never that easy

So I can't tell you how long I didn't know this but the rear inside rim to rim measurement is 56 1/2" and the front is 60". I guess I can get different size spacers to fix that. Anyone else know this, or am I just catching up?

    It's never that easy

Settled on the Method 701 rim, unfortunately it has a backspace of 4 1/2" and it touches the steering tie rod. Now I have to get the adapters.

    Fuel sending units

Sir, I appreciate the help. The reason I think it's a short is the gas gauge reads full when I know it's not. If it were a ground problem the gauge would read empty. Am I wrong with that? Also the truck runs on both sides when I switch tanks. Ran out of gas in the left tank yesterday and...

    Fuel sending units

Sir, the individual pumps ground to the frame also. I don't think I have a ground issue, I believe it's a short. Who knows where.

    Electrical Schematics

Just typed a book and hit the wrong key and it all disappeared. Looking for direction on where the harness goes that connects the Fuel Switching Valve, Fuel Pumps and Cab Tank Selector Switch and Fuel Gauge, did I miss anything? Where do they end up and is there a connector somewhere in the...

Gauge stuck past full (3 O'clock)

I'm in the same boat. Stopping by a local shop today to see what they can do. Tired of searching for the answer. I know it's a simple wire thing, that's disturbing.

    New discovery on fuel issue

I am posting in case someone else has this issue. 1. Truck runs when switching tanks left and right. Gauge reads past full but not pegged at 3 O'clock. (unknown amount of fuel in either tank). 2. When the right tank electrical connector is disconnected at the fuel pump (ground maintained), fuel...

    Fuel sending units

Can any one explain this troubleshooting guide. I'm confused on step one. Were is the selector valve harness on the cowl? Pictures would help this obviously handicapped individual. I'm still not sure my gas gauge works or that I am actually switching tanks.

    Fuel tank overfilled

So here's the latest, more to follow. Dropped the left tank for the 5th time. Shortened the hoses and made sure there were no kinks. Rechecked all the wiring, found nothing out of the ordinary. Removed all the hoses from the switch valve and blew the lines out from one side to the other, and...

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

How many times I have to tell people it's really a V10. They tell me Chevy never made V10 engine in 87. OK.

    new rotors old hubs

My goodness, every time I think I'm just gonna knock some little job out, the universe throws a monkey wrench in the works. Must be to keep me humble. First, getting all the parts, bearings, races, rotors, lug studs, grease, pads... returning one thing getting another, all said and done, it took...

Is that about the same as turning your old rotors and waiting for the next brake job?

    new rotors old hubs

Air hammer, took to friend and 1 minute later they were both done! Unfortunately here in sunny FLA, his lathe machine was all rusted up. If there would be an issue with the straightness of my new set up, I'll take it all apart and we'll clean the rust off his machine and true it all up.

    Importance of charcoal (Evap) canister

Since I flooded mine, I have blown it out and let it dry. How important is this thing if all the other pollution equipment is removed. It's only for fumes right? If it dosen't smell like gas and all the ports appear operational, am I good to go with reinstalling?
