What new tools have you got lately?

I am a material handling technician and spend money on tools to do the job better, safer or more efficiently. I finally broke down and bought one of these, a chisel/punch holder. Having smacked my fingers too many times over the years, you get gun shy and it just takes longer to complete the...

Has anyone have experience using a bed lift?

Another guy here that made one out of wood except I made it grab the rails so they would not bend or slip and had a pulling point in the center. If you go to the local lumber year, I use Home Depot, they usually have a "cull" lumber section of twisted and damaged boards that contractors would...

    Best deal on leaf springs?

I have been told a local spring shop can re arch and rebuild them cost effectively but never tried it.

    Heat temp gun/correct temp sensor/etc.

The fact it gets warm on the highway suggests it's a flow issue in the radiator or it's too small of a radiator. Also verify the cap is functioning and not bleeding off pressure. Rock Auto has all the sizes listed in their on line catalog for all the engines offered so you should be able to...

Tonneau covers for short bed stepsides?

I bought a Craftec one for my '87 GMC . It's never been on the truck because it's a work in progress but it's assembled and looks good and sturdy. I bought one because of another boards suggestion for the same question. https://www.crafteccovers.com/1954-87-Chevy-Stepside-65-SWB_p_30.html

Is that a factory color? Does it match the paint code on the SPID?

    Best gun for metallics

I read your post and looked at what your painting and an honest answer is your technique and air pressure will make more difference than a more expensive gun than the one I have linked if your doing base coat clear coat. There is a YouTube video about improving its performance by teflon taping...

    Dent removal

This is a video where a guy uses several glue sticks and a propane torch to heat them to pull a dent, fast forward to 2:30 where he actually does something. I also purchased a cheap PDR kit from Amazon with a glue gun and have had great success with it also. Just take your time, it all doesn't...

Stepside Fender and Step attachment Question.

The factory seam sealed them together then had a quarter round bead to keep debris out of the top of the mating area, you may need to blow the pictures up to see. This was a bed I took apart that I believe was never disassembled. Note the clear stone chip guard on the step.

    Procomp 69 center caps

I am not sure of the inside diameter of your wheel but 4.25" is somewhat standard, please verify before searching. I ordered a pair from Jeg's for my k10 aftermarket wheels but can't find them on their site now but here are two other retailers. They often come either chrome or stainless, I opt...

    For Sale

In today's world, the rear fenders are worth his asking price, everything else is gravy. The factory ones were stamped with thicker metal than aftermarket, they take stones thrown from the rear tires better and don't crack as bad. Step sides are tough to build nice, the panels are all single...

    Ride-tech street grip

You will also need to order new wheel bearings and rear seals, they are different in the two rotors. And an another vote to be careful working around the spring, don't sit while unbolting it, be prepared to move if something happens. A chain looped though it is a great idea to keep it in it's...

Factory-correct Restorations vs Restomod values in the new Artice by CARiD

An honest answer, '65 Mustangs really didn't start, stop or steer that great to begin with and their short comings are more apparent once compared to new cars. The advancements todays vehicles have made, that people appreciate and enjoy, when added to a classic car adds value to it. Instead of...

    Old truck Patina

This is a truck I purchased with the help of a board member and I just can't see painting it, maybe some airbrushing to make it more even or more consistent. I need to carefully remove the dents from behind the panel and get the original door mounding back on . It tells a story..... The one of...

What did you pay for a square

This was another parts truck I purchased that provided the driveline for the yellow truck, it has a neat story. It was used as a class project at the University of Utah to study alternative fuels several years ago. It used smoke from smoldering wood to power the engine instead of gasoline. I...

What did you pay for a square

I bought it as a parts truck for the frame to fix another truck about 5 years ago, turned out not all short squares are the same, it had 56" rear springs and heavy duty brakes. After storing it for a couple years decided to part the other truck and keep this one. Paid $400 and a set of rally...

I cant get my new engine to run smooth. Seems untunable.

The last time I rebuilt a quadrajet and needed shaft bushings, I believe I made my own kit with bushings I found at Tractor Supply and 2 standard sized drill bits. It wasn't that big of a deal or very expensive. When chasing a vacuum leak that is next to impossible to locate, see if somebody...

    Front frame bent?

I would use a measuring tape and "X" it out. Measure front the front rivet on the passenger side crossmember to the center of the bumper bracket bolt hole on the drivers side rail, then repeat on the other way. If it's square , the measurements would match. I have a funny feeling they will not

    70s Propane/Turbo conversion?

Neat truck, no doubt. Having done a ton of work on numerous propane powered items, I just can't think of a simple solution to increase the amount of fuel when boosted. I suspect the boost made is minimal A negotiation point is going to be the propane tank in the bed and if it's still certified...

What have you done to your square lately??

I was looking on Amazon, Dorman has a 7/16 in stud lug nut with a 3/4 outside nut diameter, I was going to order a set off them in to see if it makes it any easier.,
