You could certainly do that. I don't see what would stop you from running a new wire(s). Since it's not reading on either sending unit there's a strong chance that the issue is somewhere between the switch and the valve assembly, obviously. I recently went through restoring the dual tanks in my dually. I fought that thing tooth and nail. I had a couple of issues that turned out to be minor with easy solutions but one of them was incorrect reading of the tank levels. At one point it read empty, at one point it read way over full...- Old77

Old77's 1989 S10 tinkering project
Oldest and I replaced the starter, changed the oil and changed rear end gear oil today. Not sure the rear end needed the maintenance but the other day he asked if we could and I said sure. Gave us a chance to do something easy that he’d not done before so we did it.- Old77

1. That is friggin beautiful!!! 2. I wish mine were all clamped like that rather than crimped. I think you’re right, tho. Probably due to higher psi of FI requiring the crimps in certain locations- Old77

Where to get pre-bent fuel lines?
Yeah, on my dually there are lines that go between tanks and then go from the tank valve (that switches between tanks) on up to the engine with a filter in the middle. The lines that go between tanks are hard lines with rubber ends crimped on. Those could easily be replaced with just soft lines...- Old77

I’ve followed him for years (first ran across him and his square Burb on a Facebook group). Definitely does top notch work! I plan on getting his door panels for my ‘77 but they’re pricey so I gotta prepare for it!! Lol -

Nope. Tried each one of them and nothing. Lines to go had lines from the fuel filter to the engine but not from fuel filter to the tank switch valve and no lines that go between tanks- Old77

I’m in the middle of replacing the gas tanks and sending units in both tanks on my dually (91/454). Not surprisingly, the rubber lines are in need of replacement, too. The hose that is all rubber is easy and a no brainer to replace. My question is, where do you guys go to replace the hard...- Old77

What have you done to your square lately??
On the dually, started the project of replacing both gas tanks, sending units, fuel filter, and the module that switches between tanks this weekend. Mainly doing this because the sending unit on the driver side was getting weak so figured might as well replace the whole shebang and call it good... -

Yeah, it was 1,199 plus I paid for it to be shipped to my door which was well worth the expense!! I think it added $100 to the total and got the thing within a foot or two of where it sits now. We just had to walk it the rest of the way in. The reason I said TSC could have done better with... -

Got mine from TSC. Good bang for your buck on compressors. TSC coulda done a better job with delivery tho -

FNG with a 1981 C30 Dually
You’ll mostly be paying for labor. If they’re good at welding it should be fine. Most of the time your can just weld in a plate to reinforce the area and it’s a suitable repair. Just gotta make sure the plate goes past the rot on all sides- Old77
