    Air conditioning

Assuming the new compressor is good, low suction is due to poor airflow across the evaporator, a restriction, or low charge. High pressure is due to non-condensables in the system, poor air flow across the condenser, a restriction in the condenser, or overcharge. Did you weigh in the charge?

    Air conditioning

At the end of the 90 minute evacuation did you close off the gauges and see if it held a vacuum for 30-60 minutes? There's no such thing as dry air when it comes to a sealed refrigerant system. Nitrogen or CO2 only. Was the flush done after the new orifice was installed or before?

    Air conditioning

How long did you leave the system in a vacuum after turning off the vacuum pump (with the gauges closed off)? When you charged the system did you bleed the air out of the charging hose first? Air, and moisture in the air, can cause issues like high head pressure (the air sits at the top of the...

I did the same thing to mine. Leaked just as bad as the original. Put a new one in.

What have you done to your square lately??

There's a couple a thousands little cars here in my area that need exhaust flappers. Or give us permission to shoot the drivers when they come by the house after 10 PM.

    Valve adjustment question

No unusual noises really. The engine turns over with a normal sound. The only difference is when it back fires. Is it possible the distributor is in backwards?

    Valve adjustment question

Been a while since I've touched the truck. Went out today after work and adjusted the valves again from scratch. I now get a loud backfire at the carb air intake. I tried loosening the distributor just enough to move it with some effort and moved it back and forth to see if the timing was off...

What new tools have you got lately?

So I wanted to burn some weeds and grass. Went on Amazon and picked one up. It came in today and I hooked up the hose to the propane bottle and the handle. Turned on the propane and immediately turned it off due to massive leaks at both ends of the hose. Got some sealant and applied to the...

What new tools have you got lately?

Rob, I'd be willing to trade my jug of R12 for a valve adjustment. Just saying...........;-) Of course by the time you drove over here and back you could almost by a new one now a days. LOL

What new tools have you got lately?

I currently have a 30 lb jug of R12 in my storage room. I'll probably never use it. I wish I could find someone who needs it enough to buy it.....

What new tools have you got lately?

I went into 4 different places and they all required it. I told them I've had an EPA certification for 3 decades and they still wouldn't sell it to me, because I didn't have a commercial acct. Went back to the shop and grabbed a 30lb jug. I only needed 3 ozs.

    Valve adjustment question

Well I spent the morning trying to get it running to no avail. Used the Jeep to tow it out of the way. I guess it's going to be unused for a while.

What have you done to your square lately??

I decided to address the clicking valves and after doing my first ever valve adjustment it won't start. I've since redone the adjustment 3 times using different methods with no luck. I'll eventually figure it out but I haven't had a Saturday off for quite a while between work and family outings.
