    Aftermarket gear indicator fit

I recently bought a gear indicator from "Classic Parts" and installed it. After a short while it started sticking at "D" (drive) after putting the shifter in Park. At first I didn't know what to do, nor did I understand what the problem was that would cause it to "stick" like that. So, I...

Tire size for 12 inch lift on 1985 suburban?

@Vbb199, Wow, the one ton shafts make those regular shafts look spinly. I've seen shafts on this forum before that I couldn't figure out how they carried a tire "that big". (means the pic of the tires and axles)

Tire size for 12 inch lift on 1985 suburban?

@Catbox, What is the practical purpose of jacking the truck up that high? If you hit a bump you're liable to fall over. Also, I would imagine it's not very practical in the woods either. I have a lot of off roading mags from the '90's and there are a lot of articles about all these bad a**...

    Click no start

I'll tell you something else that causes it to and that's a bad place on the starter shaft bearing gets a flat spot on it. When that happens it causes the shaft to shift and binds the solenoid.

    Click no start

Boy, doesn't this sound familiar??!! Didn't we just spend a week talking about the same thing??!! Yeah, I'm just picking on ya'll. I agree with @SirRobyn0, and @AyWoSch Motors....starter! Because I've had it happen to me. As long as it didn't land on that bad spot it started like new. But...

    Rear lights issue

@Erik Anderson, Did you unknowingly mash a wire(s) when putting the bed back on? That would be my first guess since you have normal lights other than the ones mentioned. Rereading your post, that's what it must be, you cut some wires or mashed them, or even mashed some wires together. Check...

    Ampmeter connection

I finished the engine compartment part of the install and put the 3/8" corrigate on the amp. gauge wires.Hey, putting the sealant onto this grommet was harder than first look. I had to hold it in my left hand and peer down at the spot to be gooped out the corner of my eye, around the wiper...

    New polyurethane

And rear leaf spring bushings.New bushings along with new 3/4" bolts, washers, and nylon lock nuts to hold everything together. You can just see the new Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings in my Super Lift traction bars I rebushed back in March of last year during the shut down. I took...

    New polyurethane

I recently had my suspension over hauled with all new Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings put in bumper to bumper. This includes polyurethane dust boots as well. I put polyurethane in my truck when I rebuilt it back in '95, and after all these years, 25, it was past ready to have it done...

77 c10 lower control arm problem

@bucket, I just went on a couple of parts places to look at 3/4 ton lower A arm bushings. I don't know but I didn't see any. I saw arms, shaft nuts, shafts but not any kind of a "bushing" that would go in that tiny little area at the end of that shaft. What do they look like? For what space...

77 c10 lower control arm problem

@bucket, That sure is a lot more heavy duty than the C10 lower shaft. It doesn't seem like much room for a bushing though. Where does the bushing go, in the end of the rod inside that bushing "nut"? And if that's all the area for bushings is the part past the threads, man that's like...

    Aftermarket aluminum intake worth it?

@Old60Driver, Like @Octane was indicating, there are a lot more runner shapes and sizes than any cast iron intake ever had that build torque and horse power in a more efficient manner, and depending on your engine specs will always be worth the money than keeping your vintage iron. Look at...

    Ampmeter connection

@Ellie Niner, Yeah, I came across articles about shunting the wires to the amp meter but mine doesn't need that since the truck had one to begin with. It's just crazy that in the most round about way I came right back to somewhat wiring it just like the factory had it wired. It's not exactly...

    Folding Seatback Bracket/Latch Needed

@McMarbl3s, I did not know there was any seat that didn't fold back. How the heck are you supposed to get stuff behind the seat, slide it forward for what that would do? You need the whole hinge part and everything. Man!

    New cue ball shifter

    Ampmeter connection

Now if I could only find a Amp gauge that works we'd both be happy campers!! p.s. I love reading schematics. It's like when I worked on aircraft. Can imagine how complicated that wiring is? Wait a minute! Let's go one step further and look on the schematic and see which wire goes to which...

    Ampmeter connection

@Ellie Niner, Alright! I went out to the shop to study the schematic so I could look at how the original Amp meter was wired. And this is how the schematic shows it. From the Amp meter one leg (the Amp meter has two pins on the back that "plug" into the printed circuit that lays over a...

    Ampmeter connection

I attached the wires to the back of the old Autometer gauge and it still doesn't work. I guess it must be damaged from how I had it connected originally, so out it goes. Tomorrow I'll retry that other amp gauge, Auto Gage brand, still Autometer just their econo line, and see if it works. This...

    Ampmeter connection

@Ellie Niner, I understand what you said, and I appreciate your help immensely. Thinking last night about what you said so far, and from what I've been able to find on line I understood, and some diagrams I've been able to find, and doing some drawings myself of the way the wiring is, and would...

    Ampmeter connection

@Ellie Niner, Yeah, I'm prone to doing that when it's something I don't fully understand...like electrics. Reading something tonight it was talking about the amp meter is reading positive on one post and positive on the other post, and all things being equal it would also read correctly if it...

    Ampmeter connection

I was digging through my stuff and came across this little amp gauge I forgot I had. I may try this one. And lookie there, it's exactly what I said I needed, a 30-0-30 so it won't be so resistant to low amperage. Even though it may still only make it to the first mark, that will be better...

    Ampmeter connection

@Ellie Niner, Well, there you go. Yeah, it did swing negative a lot right when I started the engine, that's when I got scared I might damage the gauge and right away shut the engine off. So, maybe I needed to have let it go....just a wee bit longer....to see what was going to happen. Of...

    Ampmeter connection

Well, heck. All I can find is umteen info about car battery amperage hours and all that, and household amperage usage. Somebody who knows the math would need to figure it out for me. It's my guess that it would be a momentary discharge starting the engine that after it started it wouldn't...
