Yes - code 72U = Apple Red. WA7475. High solid enamel paint. Interestingly enough: my '87 was also build in Flint, and the VIN also ends in "xxx388". Built Monday Sept 29th of 1986. K- Keith Seymore

Added factory style body molding
Agree; well done, you. Warm day AND make sure the body side is clean (like with alcohol or some kind of adhesive prep) AND press really hard. In the assembly plant the rollers would press hard enough to oil can the door, just to give you an idea. I used a rolling pin from my wife's kitchen...- Keith Seymore

I want to drive an '89 suburban 700 miles home, what should I know?
When I drove my red truck back from Montana we flew out, checked the fluids, drove back. That was about 1700 miles. First time I had driven it in 18 years. I brought a couple screwdrivers, pliers and a flashlight. K- Keith Seymore

Fender emblem replacement
Take a piece of wood and set it on the emblem. Whack it with a hammer so that it breaks the studs. Install the new emblems with barrel clips. K- Keith Seymore

Any tricks to thread speedo cable back through grommet in firewall?

Overall height of brake rotor?

Cut the extra boxes off the top of your original cover at the spot welds. Plug or reuse the holes in the cover, plus plug the holes at the other end of the AIR lines with a pipe plug. Repaint and reinstall. K- Keith Seymore

Where does the engine smoothness come from?
It's fuel delivery, too. Fuel injection (especially computer controlled fuel injection) allows you to tailor the air/fuel ratio across the entire map of engine RPM and load. Two things: One - a GM V8 is inherently balanced, not only from a rotational mass standpoint but from a firing frequency standpoint.
